RE: Another boring RNS13 Oct 2024 10:48
We all keep overlooking the Microbiome Modulators arguably because it appears to be a bit of a catch all phrase and difficult to interpret exactly what Opti is claiming to bring to the party. The half year results RNS at least started to shed some light on how Opti are planning to bring early commercialisation of this second gen product and the good news is it is B2B and hence not reliant on Opti Marketing.
Firstly a definition of the Microbiome Modulator

Note from the FAQs at the link the problem with its wider adoption
"The risks of microbiome modulation for gut health are largely unknown. On the other hand, many researches are suggesting that altering gut bacteria can improve gut health, but the long-term effects of these modifications are unknown."
However, SOH's approach is focused on existing probiotics containing " Lactobacilli as they make up 65% market share by revenue (Coherent Market Insights, 2023) of the global probiotic market, which is valued at $57.8 billion (Mordor Intelligence, 2022). The creation of synergistic synbiotics which improve the growth rate, gut survival, and improve efficacy of existing probiotics is a new opportunity in the highly competitive probiotic industry. Opportunities exist to supply large corporates with a product which has the ability to improve all their products containing Lactobacilli, or codevelop, or license the technology for specific species."
A synergistic synbiotic in this case is essentially a " food layer" of prebiotics to enhance the quality and growth of the lactobacilli probiotic
