Most research papers that you can look up online where they have costed mine development average about $600 per metre of tunnel, this includes all costs associated with the works in terms of digging, removal of waste, ventilation etc.

not quite sure we've been strung along, after all they are now entering the development phase as per the last RNS with multiple target, all but one above the natural drainage level so no permit needed for this element of the development, and of course we are still waiting for the decision on the dewatering with the final sediment samples only being taken in the last 2 weeks, the delay for the permit is not of ALBA's making, its NRW that have caused these delays by keep moving the goalposts

n late 2019, Alba drilled a target within the historic Llechfraith mine area. This short drilling campaign successfully intersected shear zone-hosted quartz veins, the known geological setting for all historic gold mining at Clogau, and did so up to 25 metres below the lowest known mined areas, thus confirming the continuity of the structure for at least that distance down-dip of the historic mine workings.In September and October 2020, the Company undertook an extensive underground drilling programme on the Llechfraith level of the mine, the first time to Alba’s knowledge that diamond drilling had ever been carried out underground. Seven drill holes were completed, for over 500 metres of drilling.At the same time, the Company undertook a significant programme of underground bulk sampling, collecting over 36 tonnes of material from several target zones. This material will be processed for its gold content and the results from the underground drilling and bulk sampling will then be incorporated into the geological model to refine the gold targets for follow-up drilling and sampling.A Phase 1 surface drilling programme has been completed, targeting a zone below the Llechfraith mine area. By stepping out the drilling so that the drill collar was set further away from the mine area, the drilling was designed to intersect the quartz vein at a higher, and therefore more favourable, angle to dip. This was successful, given the significant widths of quartz vein which have been intersected; for instance, LL001 intersected a total of 6.48 metres of quartz veins, LL002 a total of 3.65 metres and LL003 a total of 5.7 metres. At its deepest point, drill hole LL010 intersected the lode structure 122 metres below the existing Llechfraith mine workings, almost doubling the depth extent identified previously by LL009 (at 66 metres), with a strike extent of up to 52 metres.Alba’s Phase 1 surface drilling has therefore confirmed the presence of a significant vein system below the deepest previously worked zone at the Llechfraith mine area. Our geological modelling indicates that the total tonnage estimation for the newly identified lode structure is between 24,000 to 27,000 tonnes in the Lower Lode alone.Phase 2 drilling has been completed, The development phase of Clogau has now started as referenced within their recent RNS and podcasts to extract bulk samples from newly identified target zones at minimal cost to Alba

A significant target is located below and to the east of the Chidlaw Link Zone. This deep zone, more than 250 metres below surface, was tested by only a single diamond drill hole from surface (drilled in 1992) and is constrained by faults which are known from surface and underground mapping.

The Collett Lode was separately estimated at the time to contain 20,000 tonnes at a grade of between 5 g/t Au to 8 g/t Au between the No 2 and 6 Levels, west of the Link Zone. Tonnage was based on projected volumes of reef between the two levels and grade based on historical gold yields.

In 1985, an underground drilling programme was undertaken at Gwynfynydd. The exploration programme included twelve drill holes totalling 810 metres, which were drilled from the Mine’s Number 6 Level to investigate the Chidlaw Link Zone at depth. On average the quartz bodies intercepted were 3.5 metres thick and were considered to be related to lode zones seen during past mining operations on the Chidlaw Link Zone. The objective of the drilling was to identify the lode structure, and as such it was successful.

As at Clogau-St David’s, gold grades in drill intersections are not expected to be representative of the actual in-situ grade due to the extreme nuggety nature of the mineralisation. It is for this reason that Alba has been undertaking bulk sampling in combination with drilling at Clogau-St David’s and a similar approach will be warranted at Gwynfynydd.

Note: The figures quoted for tonnages, grades, production and drilling results at Gwynfynydd have been taken from historical reports and have not been independently verified by Alba. Any reference to tonnages or grades are conceptual in nature as there has been insufficient exploration to define a Mineral Resource in accordance with the JORC Code 2012 or other similar internationally recognised mineral resource codes. Further, it is uncertain if further exploration will result in the determination of a Mineral Resource.

The Irish Ore Field is home to some of Europe’s largest zinc projects: Boliden’s Tara zinc-lead mine (111 million tonnes of zinc at a grade of 9.8%), Glencore’s Pallas Green deposit (42 million tonnes of zinc at a grade of 8%), Vedanta’s Lisheen mine (18.9 million tonnes of zinc at a grade of 15%) and Lundin Mining’s Galmoy mine (6.2 million tonnes of zinc at a grade of 2.4%).

In 2012 four holes were drilled in Alba’s licence area (PL3824, see location map above) in conjunction with the Company’s then joint venture partner, Teck. One drill hole intercepted 6 metres of disseminated pyrite within the target limestone, including a two-metre mineralised interval containing 0.58% Zn. The presence of pyrite is encouraging as it often indicates the presence of base metal sulphides at other properties in the Irish Ore Field.

More recently, a full data review by Alba’s technical team led to the identification of several new drill targets. The Company drilled one of those targets in a short drilling campaign in 2019. While the drilling did not intersect a mineralised zone, there remain other interesting targets at the Project which have yet to be drilled.

The mineral exploration licence for our Limerick Base Metals Project, PL 3824, has been renewed until 26 May 2022. A prospectivity review of the licence area has identified the Coonagh Castle Fault as one of main faults transecting the Limerick Basin and concluded that being able to determine the trace of the fault to within tens of metres on surface is crucial to the success of future drilling. Interpretation of Tellus and satellite (Sentinel) imagery for our licence area is ongoing and will enable the refinement of future drill prospects.

Located in Southern Greenland, on the same latitude as far northern Scotland, with excellent infrastructure and in ice-free waters, the Amitsoq Graphite Project includes a formerly producing graphite mine located on Amitsoq island.

Several field seasons have been completed which have resulted in a “drill ready” three-dimensional conceptual model supported by geophysics, geochemical sampling and structural mapping. Field exploration has significantly increased the quantum of known graphite occurrences on Amitsoq Island (with a strike length of up to 12 km) in addition to extending the mapped and sampled horizons on to the Kalaaq mainland discovery.

Independent testwork has confirmed that the graphite content of Amitsoq ore is very high, amongst the highest found in flake graphite deposits globally. It has also demonstrated that a 97% graphite concentrate can be produced and that many of the inherent characteristics exhibited by Amitsoq graphite are positive.

A series of metallurgical test work programmes have been undertaken in respect of Amitsoq graphite. Most recently, flotation and purification test work was carried out by graphite specialists ProGraphite of Germany. For the flotation test work, the feed grade of the material was 25.97% fixed carbon. The results confirmed that the graphite content of Amitsoq ore is very high, indeed amongst the highest found in flake graphite deposits globally, and demonstrated that a graphite concentrate can be produced grading more than 96%.

ProGraphite concluded that the high-purity specification required for the anode material in LIBs will be met with alkaline purification (reaching 99.97% C). This indicates the suitability of Amitsoq graphite for most commercial applications, including importantly as the feed material for Lithium-Ion Batteries (“LIBs”), the fastest growing market for flake graphite globally.

The objective of the recently completed field season was to drill a maiden Mineral Resource for Amitsoq, allowing the Company to then move to commissioning a detailed economic assessment of the Project.
