However, I am growing more cautious on the UK economy over the medium term, hopefully this caution is unwarranted. Advance forecasts rarely anticipate recession, until it's here. I've looked at the forecasts and they are strong, however a degree of market participants are questioning if they will be met, based on the SP. Besides Brexit, we look late in the current cycle, unless recessions have now been abolished. So the question I would ask is.. how will Lloyds trade through the next recession?. Lloyds TSB( from memory) increased dividends through 2000/3. We experienced something entirely different during the last financial crisis. I have no better idea than you, what the next downturn will bring.
