Genedrive and Cytiva (formerly GE Healthcare Life Sciences) collaborate on Coronavirus
(SARS-COV-2) PCR Test Development

Genedrive plc (AIM: GDR), the near patient molecular diagnostics company, announces it has entered into an agreement with Cytiva (formerly GE Healthcare Life Sciences) for the development of its Genedrive® 96 SARS-CoV-2 assay for use on lab-based PCR instruments. This is one of two assay programmes the Company is developing following an announcement made on 25 March 2020.
The Genedrive® 96 SARS-CoV-2 assay combines Genedrive's PCR chemistry integrated with Cytiva's LyoStable® stabilisation technology. The combination would allow for high throughput manufacturing of over 10,000 tests per hour in a 96-well, temperature-stable plate format that could be transported globally without the need for refrigeration. The one-step test features a single PCR bead that once mixed with a patient's sample, can be performed on a variety of existing open PCR platforms from manufactures such as Roche and ABI (Thermo Fisher). As the global spread of coronavirus infection increases, it is likely that a variety of diagnostic tools will be needed for direct clinical care via specialist laboratories, central hospital labs and in the community. It is likely that millions of people will need to be tested, and high throughput PCR molecular testing will play a central role. Genedrive aims to deliver clinically verified, consistent and reproducible assays that are easy to use and can be manufactured and delivered globally in high volume. Seems every punter and his dog wants to get into a 'testing' stock at the moment, especially after seeing ODX today. Only one way this superior test is going, it's just how far up and when. DYOR etc

The whole of the UK and other countries will need testing for 18 months at least, and all good tests will be needed from many companies, this having one of the gold standard tests. Plus connections with the US already set up. No way is this going to be much lower than £1 for long, probably before end of the week, barring a RNS, then way higher.

Can't believe I decided not to buy soem shares in PRM last week....seemed so low as a punt and see today. Happy to here though for the longer term as will be huge IMHO

Who can get tested?
Hospital patients, NHS and care staff, emergency services, care home residents and now all essential workers and their families should be able to get tested.
The list of key workers includes teachers, police officers and transport workers.
Testing is not yet available for the general public.
How are the tests being offered?
The tests are done by taking a swab of the nose or throat, which is sent off to a lab to look for signs of the virus's genetic material. They show whether someone is currently infected with coronavirus.

I think the main thing here as others have mentioned is Reliabilty, plus get ready asap of course - another 4 weeks is nothing

Omega only really do the manufacturing with their expertise, but good business to have of course, which was always in the cards. That’s what the consortium was set up for.

Actually, the AVCT strips are great but long way off bringing to market, end of this year trials. Sleep now ...,

AVCT also have a non exec Trevor Nicholls on board who potential links with the old GE company which might be a plus. ( as an aside I used to work for an ex GE company, look at GE now!)

Anyway, he’s also a member of a non profit making organisation. Think that one through a bit.

Agree that AVCT have a great product a few steps ahead, that look a good bet but the 18p a share funding put me off a bit. Good they have cash coming but felt too discounted to current price. GDR with such a low market cap and small amount of shares in issue for PIs made this a better multiple bagger to me once product comes to market. Might need cash though in the short term unless anyone here knows who well funded and credit line we have currently. I do think this is the next NCYT and longer term who knows?
