Bondy,
Given that Garonne has been invested in AFC for several years and has spent a significant amount of time moaning at the drops and not taken the opportunity to get out on a big rise I cannot believe they are anything other than a cynical stock basher. You will have noticed their silence while the stock was rising on the last two occasions.
Anyway, it is disappointing that they have not managed to get any more income from the liquid systems. However the solid cell is going to be a superior product. There is a line somewhere in the annual report that says that the systems are cheaper, and they take up less space. I can see why customers would chose to wait.
As for the effort going into r&d you could get very excited by it. There are a range of products being developed, as I said last week, the HFCs, the solid cells, the various scale systems (remember ABB are after a 100 then 200 kW system). Then the means to power them (reformers and crackers) and finishing off alkamem, then electrolysers and other products related to that. In addition you have liquid cooled systems to develop. That is a diverse range of effort and it is not surprising it requires several teams of scientists and engineers. When it all comes off, however, the company is going to be in a much stronger position with a greater range of products. So looking at it that way it is actually quite exciting.
As Escala says, important that they hit deadlines for getting product out to Keltbury and Acciona.
