IMHO it comes down to the UK government changing tack from testing to vaccinating.
Yes, tests are still needed, but it is no longer crucial that they be sovereign or even reliable.
On the other hand, making saving is more needed than ever, with the Treasury probably applying pressure to cut expenses where possible (cf. the latest NHS workers pay upgrade proposal, from 1% to -wait for it- 3%).
Hence the repeat orders for cheapo LFTs from China, and the dubious moves to block the purchase of homegrown tests.
The share price proves that the rampers' game is even more pathetic
