If you've not watched it take a look at Michael Moore's documentary Planet of the Humans... it answers some of the questions.. depending where your opinions lay with him. Kia Sportage has already previously stated he wouldn't support new fossil fuel exploration favouring signing up to an economically unviable and unsustainable significant ramp up of wind! Who on earth convinced him that's a good idea! Sadly theh are likely to get in soon, if GE called, or in two years... i doubt even a Boris return could save the Tories.

To my surprise I agree with you on this Rookie. Strike isn't far off the mark. Who and what can anyone do to change this single minded focus on a direction which is more about control than sustainability. Talking to colleagues across academia focussed on this area of geopolitics there is growing scientific evidence this direction has no sustainable benefits long term, both environmental and economic. If it were such a beneficial direction Government's wouldn't need to legislate adoption.
There's plenty of peer reviewed research now published.

Talking of which I get the frustration..how can the media world be talking of planned 3 hour national power cuts with so much gas available.. why not use UK gas which could easily meet UK demand and as I understand some of Europe's? If I'm to be as cynical as Rookie is this a deliberate political play to blame and remove the Tories create a new landscape and invest further in that crazy wind vision recently passed to Kia Sportage.. sorry Starmer to sell to the misguided masses.
There must be a straightforward reason for lack of support for uk gas and oil at this time - is it simply cost?

I fear the problem with taxing UK income of Oilers is it will only ever be a political gesture - squeeze too much and companies will surely simply realign structure to reduce exposure . If the Government wish to maintain support it will require wider taxation unless the consumer costs are reduced?

The problem being WT will only raise circa £10bn and Truss is talking about borrowing at £100bn to cover a two year freeze. The repayment period being 20years. Thornbury has just indicated Labour would pursue the whole requirement from WTs. Surely any ongoing WT strategy will simply force profits offshore? Which party will admit taxes will need to rise to repay the borrowing?

I don't know what people expect politicians to do - if the tax payer has to bail out those who need help (the inevitable) we will end up in a vicious cycle of taxation to support energy prices. These prices are here to stay I don't see what legal levers the Government has to reduce them whichever supply route. This country has foolishly believed in the Wind and Solar dream, these are only tertiary at best, we've therefore needed gas to constantly bridge the shortfall in energy, instead like energy resilient France we should have invested in Nuclear. Not wishing to sound too much like Rookie, at a geo-political level it plays into the hands of the WEF 'a (Klaus Schwab) control vision so I don't see these global industry players being overly engaging in any resolution detrimental to them.

Those Green clowns aren't even comparing like for like. Wind is a tertiary (top up) power source, not even secondary such as a tidal system. All they currently have as a fair comparison is nuclear (if you accept it's green) versus gas.. lol

Ah, somebody else who has been on hold with Interactive investor customer service. Their update this morning is they haven't been allocated the new Harbour Energy shares to credit those holding PMO.. whatever that really means? ... hmm sounds like a mess. I'm just glad I'm long anyway.

Let's hope it's a safe Harbour ;-) and most of all prosperous. I had to hold as I'm sadly feeling my hold will be very long!
