Nigwit - moderating expectations - yes. On that point agreed. BP SP at it's peak certainly did not reach £10 per share. Time will tell.

NigWit, agreed it's important to keep feet on ground but at the same time I see no harm in sharing a sense of camaraderie and actually enjoying being invested in a company you believe in. I'd suggest most on this BB have done their own research and invest to make money not lose it! FWIW information I find useful is being aware of competitor impacts, geopolitical impacts, drilling/technical impacts etc. but am also simply appreciating the unique journey this investment offers because the sheer magnitude of potential resources will have a significant impact for the UK economy. Maybe there's room for serious analysis and some lighthearted discussion ...?

I don't think it's a big surprise to anyone that institutional investors are taking a long term view towards divestment. However the reality is there is still a very large worldwide market for O&G - demand and supply will continue for the foreseeable future - I would certainly say at least 20-30 years, simply because the alternative infrastructure does not currently meet demand. Is Hurricane a rational place to invest given this market shift? Yes. Why? Demand does and will exist for supply. Hurricane is in a position to monetize assets well before that window closes. The reality is Hurricane offers an opportunity to make substantial returns. While I appreciate hearing both sides of the argument, I don't see the point of presenting the same information that most people are very, very aware of ad infinitum.

While an RNS would have pre-empted speculation, in all fairness all Hurricane have ever stated is by Q4. We do know a lot has changed this year re. Spirit deal and that 2019 sees a full programme of work ahead. I see no benefit in speculating further. As far as I'm concerned everything's on track and I look forward to 2019.

Thanks Nigwit, yes, apologies, sleepy brain reacted to CA holding 19.4% of HUR! Rather than 19.4 of CA's assets are held in Hurricane!

FairFX Group plc own 19.4% not Hurricane. Hurricane currently own 5%.

Thank you Casapinos, completely agree, however so close to foil, FOMO is keeping me in at the moment as is a general sense of confidence in the way everything's been handled by Hurricane to date. However do now see an opportunity to bring down my overall average if the SP does indeed go down further but I don't see bottom until a few weeks before FOIL.

Thanks Mr Jim for the info on Morningstar, that's given me the last piece of the jigsaw. I'd noted on here and elsewhere a few posts back that I could see a steady pattern of 'derisking' had to be happening against the continued SP drop but could only find limited information on shorts such as Och-Ziff etc and the numbers didn't add up. I also calculated the SP against the price of oil on a daily basis from the 3rd September to the end of last week - 9th November and could see while there was an obvious correlation there was still an unexplained gap in the numbers. With the info you've provided this now adds up and at the risk of appearing a gloom merchant - the patterns on the candlesticks and the historical share price data are pointing (in my very amateur calculations) to a continued steady 'derisk' - which I can't see coming to an end for the next month to be honest. Those that actually understand these things would perhaps be kind enough to say something more sensible than me on the subject that might help others here.

Yes - most likely. I've had to challenge myself on that front and it's been interesting to observe. Hindsight is often not very kind. There was a poster on here, I can't for the life of me recall his/her name but they warned everyone on here while wishing them well (and I think they genuinely meant it despite being totally pilloried by almost everyone on here) that the price may be driven down as low as the late 20's. This prompted me to wake up and challenge my assumptions, start learning the basics of technicals etc. Until we are pumping and proved I suspect his warning may have merit - but I don't know and I didn't jump at 60p though I really wish I had - in hindsight!

Wulbert your post made me smile. Actually, this would make a fantastic screenplay, maybe one day coming to a cinema near you ... Thanks to all on this board for their insights, did some calculations based on the correlation of the price of oil with HUR SP plus looking up outstanding shorts (though that left me none the wiser). In the final analysis to see this realize its full potential and am now going to enjoy the next part of the ride. Wishing all invested here the best for the next leg ...

Straycat, thanks, but don't mean to be gloom and doom, just trying to say there's no big mystery or anything dark and mysterious going on - just hedge funds doing what hedge funds do and if people are looking to top up there might be better opportunities down the line (unbelievable I know!) or there might not - I don't have a crystal ball and I could be wrong - just saying I see a pattern repeating here.

Thanks Biffadog, having got burnt myself and learning, evidently, the hard way, it's now crystal clear to me there's no mystery re. the share price's volatility, new venture, AIM, oil and gas, all of that to one side - it's just the nature of hedge fund investment cycle - the SP will continue to oscillate until it is not profitable to take a short position and their long position has been derisked to their liking. I appreciate without hedge funds we wouldn't have this opportunity but also am (now particularly) wary of their seemingly unregulated power to effect so many people's lives - for the better or worse. In full disclosure not a 'boy'!
