Since (Nigwit et al - though Nigwit I do often appreciate your posts nonetheless) I have overinvested, actually solely in Hurricane, it's my roulette wheel and I'll play if I want to. (Come on - deriskng along the way I hope I can't go wrong) - this fine board has been a solace and a wealth of information. Thanks for the humanity, the humour, the kindness and the unexpected, Puffins, dams burst in Brazil, the odd poem and burst of lyricism and just general good humour.

We'll get there in the end ... we have no f*ing clue where the *** rope is but that we'll get there in the end seems in the grand scheme of things much more probable than not - so time for a holiday, take up a new hobby and in a week or month or two or whatever, we'll see the SP rise - eventually. And I've only been invested for 1 year and 1 month - I have no idea how the LTHs have got this far ...

Ginger tea - not team - that conjures up a weird group of folk like Chris Evans and Ginger Spice which makes no sense whatsoever in this context (no offence to redheads - really!)

I've had the same thought. I'm feeling pretty guilty as my husband has caught my latest iteration of whatever determined bacteria/virus persist to overtake us and no amount of Olbas Oil, Lemsip, Beechams Powders, Ginger team and honey is really helping. It's getting pretty silly right now as we're now talking since January. Six months in the UK in summer and six months wintering somewhere viral free is looking like a reasonable solution at the moment. A pox on all colds etc!

Yes, OK, 'if' we had left Dubai earlier etc., etc., but looking back a few years actually H1 has always been the target. Let's look at this from Hurricane's point of view - they are actually more invested then we are - this is their reputation on the line.

For some unfathomable reason (apart from latent farming DNA from Hawick on my father's side) I love the farmer's sayings on weather, i.e. n'er cast a clout till May is out (don't put your winter coats in storage) and for March - In like a lion, out like a lamb.

However, given our usual cliimate patterns if there is such a thing as 'usual' appear to have thrown a wobbly, we'll either be waiting for a decent WW end of March or a freak period of calm will descend affording us all a great deal of relief.

On the basis that we were told they expected to have the replacement rope by end of Feb and it is now 3rd March, I can only hope said rope has been offloaded to the AM by the GS recently (and given her speedy trip). But that could just be wishful thinking.

Yuyus - I think we can say the Eagle has dropped its prey, currently circling, ready to pounce on it's next target!

Good for you, had some lovely jobs in the NHS can be a fantastic place to work, sounds like you love what you do. I observe that my lifestyle has gone from fairly out and about to more sedentary as I have been working from home on most days over the last few years so aiming to get more exercise into my daily routine or at least some balance. Thanks to Snaggletooth for the book title - might help me!

I had to look up T-SQL - programming interface with relational databases - you have my sympathy. I made a vow at one point (a very unrealistic one) to rebuild a career away from computer screens. Since then I have failed miserably and find myself glued to one most days of the week. Hey ho, roll on £1, £2, £4, £5 whatever it turns out to be and I'll join the early retirement club.

Sipp, quite extraordinary looking at both links - particularly Atacama. Given your hotel experience feels like someone's protecting you from too much of an 'adventure' - enjoy Carnival.

No just simply fatigue. Lots of hours talking about things with different folk to solve various problems. Then back to other work to finish in the small hours. Odd life at the moment, granted.
