The majority of the coal reserves in Tanzania exist along the Songea Karoo belt in Southern Tanzania. Coal fields exist in three regions of the country in Rukwa, Mbeya and the largest in Njombe. The country has total coal reserves of around 1.9bn tonnes with 0.4 billion tonnes of proven reserves.

I doubt anybody invested in Edenville believes that the $455m Interconnector won’t be supplied by the above listed coalfields. Which imo still begs the question as to why the new contractor (with Dubai Connections) wants to work a little coal mine for the benefit of other?. ...

Not much hydropower (absolutely none in fact) will be added at the location of the Sumbawanga Power Plant, and I’m fairly confident that you can’t dam lake Rukwa or Lake Tanganyika. The truth of the matter is some that frequent this bb are invested in a company that has a Tanzanian coal mine, and the only power source that is of any consequence in that regard is coal, and to the very best of my knowledge if a power plant is build at Sumbawanga only coal will be powering it to be added to the EAPP’s. Anything other than talk of coal at this location is just naysayers ****! Imho

I think pi’s are rightly cautious, as anybody that knows Kibo or has knowledge of AIM workings won’t want to get caught in a spike prior to a re-trace. If this holds hopefully it will be the first day of many! The real test will surely be from 14th April 2021. ...

You are of course correct the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project is an environmental disaster. I have read the report a several times over the year, but the impact will make no difference to the project moving forward, a bit like little will change the mining of coal in forthcoming decades.

Interesting the rufiji hydropower project at only @ 2.9 billion for the dam and power station Is @27.1 billion cheaper than sausages Sumbawanga sub station extimate :))
