Corona Virus - I fully get why certain categories have been hammered in the last week or so, especially companies like Tui, Carnival and IAG. But I don't get why companies like BEM have been so badly hit. Whilst one might tentatively argue that there would be reduced metal demand, even if we get the go-ahead, it will be years before any metal is sold and CV will be a distant memory.
Once again it seems to me the corrupt stock market is out to screw everyone.

Put it another way, If Dicko and Kenny Rogers were to put themselves up for sale in an IPO, would you invest? Think we know the answer there.

Biggs - the only possible reason for a punt would be the ridiculously low share price, but it's low for a reason. That reason is not the C V. That has only accelerated the decline in SP. The old adage of "never catch a falling knife" is as valid ever.

For those who critcised this post recently, can I just say that the BBC have just said pretty much exactly the same other than stating it as a flu virus.
I stand corrected and would now say flu-like virus. By comparison, Both are easily caught, both have relatively mild symptoms for generally fit people but are worse for elderly and those with other complication. Most recover without medical treatment. We are in effect talking abot a winter flu like epedemic, an annual event. the only difference is the agenda and paranoia that some have is in danger of talking us into a global recession.

Just realised, with the SP now at 4p, I'm no longer losing money, having first invested 10 years ago at 4p.

They don't need to raise. We are gradually paying down the debt and the pension deficit until something else comes along. Shareholders wouldn't tolerate a raise at that price, not like happens on AIM.

I normally go to the AGM but when my investment was worth over £20k it was worth the trip. Not sure it is worth it now for an investment worth £2k.

Taverham. True they are not identical but they share symptoms and both can kill elderly or impaired or both. Flu is however far more contagious than the virus. Make no mistake, flu is very dangerous and kills an awful lot of people around the world. Most people who take time off work do not have the flu, they have a chesty cold.
Having previously worked in a hospital, I have seen how health chiefs get gripped with paranoia and spend millions on space suits, disinfectants, masks, decontamination tents etc. Such as with SARS, Ebola and the like. The vast majority of it never gets used and is eventually rather quietly disposed of when out of date. And the companies that supply the stuff get richer.

I'm afraid I don't invest in anything ending in OG anymore following my exoeriences with VOG. Brings me out in a rash.

I feel that Horta Osario is the problem with Lloyds. Safe, steady and boring and not seeming to do a great deal to justify the huge remuneration package. Perhaps explains why he's had to take a big pay cut.
Can't see Lloyds pulling out of this rut with him at the helm and with 70 billion shares in issue we're unlikely to see a sufficient increase in profits to allow any major uplift in the div in forseeable future.
OK 6% yield sounds great now, but if SP was a still modest £1 that would be a fairly unattractive 3% yield.
Doubled my holding a little while back at what looked like a cheap 50p and am gutted to see this fall to current levels again.

When I think about how the directors were spouting off at the AGM about what good value the SP was at 13p, it just shows what a shhiite job they have done with our kids' inheritances
Just hope nobody was suckered into buying at those levels. I got suckered into a top up at over 8p.

Is that strictly true. Yes they pay out 38% of the Logbaba runnung costs but they also get 38% of the income from gas and condensate sales, so I'm assuming even at current levels they must be making something,
Obviously VOG is losing money and heavily in debt but is GDC? I'm not sure.
