Yes Nickel, I would agree they are currently in the ascendancy.
But not just them. Any company selling food at present is doing well out of this. Obviously the supermarkets who, apart from food have a huge and varied range from alcohol to clothes to electricals, gardening etc. But also companies such as B&M and The Range where food is almost secondary to their vast range of non-essential items.
It seems crazy to me that millions are trapped in their houses and gardens with nothing to do whilst the DIY stores and garden centres are driven to the wall. If we can have queueing at supermarkets and counters at the entrance at Halfords where staff pick the items you require, why can't we do something similar in these other sectors.
I worry that when this is all over, we will have no economy to build up again.

M4L. Good point. Every day we see dozens of Covid 19 updates via RNSs and, being at the start of the food chain, one might have expected to hear something from PFD.

Yeah does seem rather at odds with what the rest of the world is doing. Without wishing to minimise the risks associated with CV, I have some sympathy with Donald Trump's comment a week or so ago that we shouldn't make the cure worse than the illness (sic). Governments have done their level best to scare the crrap out of us and, having agreed to massive unheard of amounts of spending, they will want to show that it was all justified, because whatever happens we'll be paying it back long after I'm dead and gone. But just imagine if somehow the Swedes got it right and their final death and infection rates were comparable to other developed countries.
That would leave them in an immensely powerful situation surrounded by a host of bankrupt nations.

I also have funds, (£2700) from a cancelled cruise and would love to top up in either pfd or itv.

Would expect them to be a long term hold with no divs for 2 or 3 years so reliant on growth but once cruising restarts, assuming they don't cancel the cruise share benefits, I will be getting the equivalent of a 20% div every time I cruise. I'll take that.

Smithy - I would imagine the vast majority of crew would be stood down and returned to their home countries. They are all on short term contracts and low paid with a large percentage of their income coming from the tipping system.
Ships not being used as CV hospitals will be put into care and maintenance with skeleton crews.
It's a shame for the cabin staff, waiters, cleaners etc but that's the way cruise industry works and bearing in mind the places most come from, ie India, Phillipines etc, they are relatively highly paid compared with fellow countrymen, and will hopefully have a bit put by until things pick up.

Don't mind that as will top up as it will only be temporary.
Only trouble is I need one of my other shares to shoot up so I've got the necessary readies.

Jed - Not sure about that. Bearing in mind around 2 months ago the SP was nudging mid 40s and despite the CV issues around, PFD is still exactly the same copany as it was then, ie an excellent recovery stock, I would be surprised if enough shareholders would accept an offer at 52p.
I certainly wouldn't and my average is 37p. Also conscious of the fact that a tentaive offer of 65p was made by McCormick a few years ago when we were not in such a good place as now.
