well those who talk of a takeover, must be influenced by some ''stuff' simply Speedy Hire would not be where it is if it was a takeover target. People take over companies when there is further money to be made by investment. At this point we may see further profit concerns. It can become a takeover target by structural change and improve sales and profits. PS it must be appreciated that it is not about knowing the tool hire business that makes a you shrewd investor, rather an understanding of a companies structural dynamics. At this point SH has the wrong ''dynamics''

Nice to hear from you, been a while!!! Still holding 50k shares in PFD. I think there time is coming!!! Although I've been saying that for the last 5 years!!! Anyway, if I can sell next year, I'm keeping an eye on the tool plant hire business. Speedy Hire and HSS. HSS floated only in Feb this year for £2.20, they are down to 55p!!! I'm also looking at Surgical Innovations, Johnston Press, Aquarious Platinum, Serco, Ladbrookes and First Group. All these have further to fall first.

Further to your post implying only people who know about the tool hire business are qualified to be knowledgable in matters relating to Speedy Hire. I disagree, because the current and future SP is not all about ''TOOL HIRE'' but also about market manipulation etc.

well, if you talk about further profit warnings, invariably, this will give rise to the question of convenants. Will there be a risk of convenants being breached subsequently?

Think your right about hard times coming into Christmas, that much we know. What we don't know is what is happening after Christmas, that is, will there be a global slowdown? interest rates rising will surely impact on capital expenditure. Will there be a construction sector slowdown? But what is most important is, how low can the SP go?
