why play the SP down if not buying shares?

if the markets felt Nissin was interested in buying PF, the SP would not be where it is now. Many companies have a high SP and also stacks of money held as cash. But rather than ''throw it away'' they would rather wait until the right company comes along. It could be Nissin think the SP will get so low, that another company will come along and buy the whole lot. Nissin will by then be so far in with PF, that new owners will have to continue producing Nissin products.

That is the problem. GD says MC did not bid or it was highly conditional. I think we all need to ''grow up'' and stop talking about MC as they are not coming back,even if Nissin sold their stake.

That is what the board should be told.

As long as PF is not taken over by a direct competitor like Nestle which is very unlikely, they would probably let the contract expire, before commencing discussions.

Who will buy out PF? with Nissin holding 20% of the company this is very hard. They are working together on the Noodle range and there would be legal complications relating to the transfer of technology.. I was very pro Darby, but if he entered into an agreement with Nissin on the premise they would invest heavily. which they have not done he needs to go. Did he think the SP would get to at least 65p by sales alone? it has not and probably will not.

I read an article which I though was incorrect and suggested it cost PF £14 million last year to ''fend off the MC bid'' absolutely crazy. Why won't GD expose Nissin for what they are?

The point I was making was MC thought the company was worth a bit less than the 52p offer, but that is the whole idea of a takeover. Since that point the SP has dropped because even 52p surprrised the market.

We have to acknowledge that Mc Cormicks's initial 52p bid which was rejected and kept quiet was reasonable. The 60p and 65p bids were even better, if genuine.

He needs to come clean on Nissin and why they won't ''put up or shut up'' ie Buy more shares/takeover or sell their ''blocking stake''. Mc Cormick would come back if they went and took their rubbish product with them. It is very painful to continue watching other shares plunge and recover.There are so many buying opportunities, today DFS has plunged 20%, but early next year it could be 50% higher, will PF be more than 65p next year? even it is, I would rather take 65p today and invest it.
