This has been ''knocking around this BB'' for a few weeks now. It comes from the fact last October the SP hit 57p on the premise things were improving and enough had been done to make profit warnings a thing of the past, albeit with flat sales. However, this hope was dashed when the profit warning arrived last year with the culprit a ''warm September''. I have just argued, with the Nissin/Mondalez deal, coupled with brands like Angel being improved, such thinking could return this year, on the back of a good christmas./ New products next year etc, However, ''once bitten forever shy'' That may be why the SP is now flat, the investors may look for a bit of evidence first.

Read the two posts below your post first, who has started the name calling? We have all generally got this share wrong, what about those who talked about it being in the twenties again? Read my post I never said it was going to hit 57p, I said speculators may do now what they did last year, that is feel the worst is past this company, did I not suggest the speculators got it wrong last year?

Yes sales are down from 2 years ago, but speculators don't look at the past but the future and it is now more about speculators then investors!!! Indeed, it was ''speculators'' which took the SP to 57p last year, they were of course wrong. However, it is fair to say Nissin have not even ''got out of first gear'' Oasis are ''inactive active investors'' and there could be more from Mondalez. What if Oasis exercise their right to buy 15% of the company? what would this do to the SP? What if Nissin top upto 29.9%?

I agree the road to recovery will be long, but that does not mean the SP will take long to recover. I must make the point clear, I am not suggesting the SP will be a multiple of what it is now so soon. However, with PF if the past is anything to go by, ''little things go a long way''. We saw a recovery from Nov 2011 to April 2012, where the SP went from 3p to 18p, one analyst said, ''it could rise to 30p or regress to 3p, it is a death or glory stock. In May 2013, a small increase in sales saw the stock rise from 55p to �1.85 within 5 months. So who knows what may happen?

Agree 100%. Cashflow is important to all businesses, as is cost cutting and sales. Just because Hovis does not make a profit, it does still bring in money.

We fail to mention the cash generative pat of it which makes it an asset to PF as a whole.

We say the Nissin Stake is a ''blocking stake'' but with Oasis able to buy upto 15% of the company. If they did and a bid was made, Nissin would be in a difficult situation if Oasis approved the bid. For that reason, the more Oasis go beyond 9%, the more Nissin may buy, perhaps upto 29.9%. I am certain if this happened we would be at least 65p.

But the whole point of sharedealing is to ''pre-empt'' a situation and act on it before it happens. Speculators will now be thinking things will get better and we may be seeing the back of sub 40p for good. Why wait until January and on confirmation of good trading you will be paying 20% or even more for shares than now.

Spot on mate. Anyway PF never said this update was going to be great and only after this update we were going to see things pick up. What it has demonstrated is that if more Mondalez involvement and Nissin is seen as expected, then PF will have become a ''well oiled machine'' that can ''take up the slack'' in a very difficult environment. Debt is falling albeit very slowly. The markets may now push this upto a level that it deserves vto be at after the xmas update. No reason why we cannot be at 57p at Christmas or the update time.

What will push us up is if tomorrow shows that things have not got any worse, then is no reason why the SP should not recover. I have said so many times on this BB that it hit 57p last year on no news, other than there was no bad news. We got a profit warning last October and so I think the markets are not again going to speculate on there is going to be no bad news until confirmation. We must not forget it is not all about sales and profit, but also debt and pension deficit. These ae the first set of results in an accelerating interest rate environment. This should help the pension discount rate, indeed, in 2013 some of the SP rise to �1.85 was only speculation about rising interest rates.
