Remember it's only a listing where you buy and sell shares, has nothing to do with daily operation of the company unless it wanted to raise capital.

For China it's a double whammy, if they don't comply with NASDAQ regulations they will lose out on US capital markets and those companies that move auditors, auditing business.

Personally I think this is a good move by NASDAQ regulator ensuring good corporate standards, it will help Chinese companies too if they can indeed comply.

Share price is currently up on NASDAQ, ball firmly in China's court as the rules are standard applied to everyone NASDAQ listed.

Following on (read in conjunction with) from earlier posts on this subject, I came across the act detailing what is required together with background and reasoning.

The two obvious steps as highlighted in this thread are;;

a) Move the audit office location to US

b) China simply allows PCAOB officers to inspect the audit offices as they do with all other NASDAQ listed companies.

Both of these options seem easily to implement without too much change, the nonsense touted by media commentators as uninvestable is misleading imo.

It probably needs the SEC to acknowledge Chinese offers of cooperation, that said if they meet the new regs then perhaps that isn't even necessary.

If there are 273 companies affected, Weibo for example has a market cap of 6.17B USD whilst HCM obviously a lot less, overall there is an awful lot of exchange fees, brokers commissions at stake if the plug does get pulled.
