I don't know how they have the front to call themselves analysts after this call on THG (along with 12 other missed targets)

Some extra detail perhaps not widely known, extract from Barclay's

"We think the legal separation of the assets is now largely done and would expect the notification to Softbank regarding the option on Ingenuity to be sent soon. The 3-month clock should stop ticking by the end of October / early November."

Boom, it doesn't need turning around, its doing just fine and has done for the last 18 years lol

The other thing to consider when trading on margin, is non ownership of the shares - this means your broker can lend out your shares effectively betting against you.

When you buy shares with a derivative the counter party is aware of this and stock marked accordingly, most shares settle T+1 meaning purchase or sales will be reflected in the register day or tow later, it becomes very easy for prop traders to target groups of shareholders using algos designed for this purpose.

Just pointing out a few of the downsides.

Accordingly, the total number of voting rights in the Company as at 30 June 2022 was 1,246,164,035. This figure may be used by the Company's shareholders as the denominator for the calculations

1,246,164,035 x 0.70p = 872m GBP market cap

This is why the props are going after THG. Margin traders are easily spooked out - constant looking at a red P & L will drive most nuts

There must still be a large number of retail investors holding stock, perhaps some on margin, prop traders would not target institutions this way as it simply doesn't work, after all its not their money.

Tempted to order a copy of the register for curiosity to see who is who, in the meantime managed to get a full copy of the Barclay's note.

Has to be something more to this note other than the highly speculative nature of its content, can't think of another company where the house broker has turned on their own client in such a way ?

Have Barclays lost out on future THG business hence the sour grapes ..

Yup, already have the FT article, ideally would like to see the full note with caveats before lodging a complaint.

Its that old nugget about UK institutions not being able to buy shares, limited to mainly US market.

I'll try and get a copy in the morning, couple of buddies work there on trading desks.

stockbrokerbelt, its bound to have a generic caveat to cover themselves, along the lines "we may or may not hold positions...dah de dah.."

Does anyone have a full copy of the Barclay's note, interested to see if there are any disclaimers.

Lets be clear about who is taking the risk here, and its not shareholders.

Pushing the share price down and holding it there while you hope more sellers hit the bid than the offer is incredibly risky imo, especially so at these levels.

If the props don't turn a profit by end of the week they will be on that DLR quicker than you can say 'Vajazzle' lol

Its a shame we don't have the rule 8 notices, Barclays I am sure would make interesting reading!
