Wizz Air Holdings Reports Passenger Traffic Growth In December

(Alliance News) - Central & Eastern Europe-focused airline Wizz Air Holdings PLC on Monday reported a double-digit rise in passenger traffic for December.

For the recent month, the FTSE 250 airline reported a capacity increase of 24% to 3.7 million from 3.0 million a year before, while passengers increased by 25% to 3.3 million from 2.7 million.

As a result, load factor rose to 89.4% from 88.8%.

On a rolling annual basis, Wizz Air's capacity was up by 16% to 42.5 million, passengers by 18% to 39.8 million, and load factor to 93.6% from 92.4%.

Available seat kilometres was up by 25% year-on-year to 6.1 million from 4.9 million, as was revenue passenger kilometres to 5.5 million from 4.4 million.

On a rolling annual basis, the available seat kilometres grew by 18% to 69.4 million, and revenue passenger kilometres by 20% to 65.2 million.

For December, Wizz Air reported that its carbon dioxide emission rose by 23% to 324,437 tonnes year-on-year, and by 16% to 3.7 million tonnes on a rolling annual basis.

During the month, Wizz Air added six new routes, including two in Romania, and one each for Austria, Hungary, Lithuania and Poland.

Shares in Wizz Air - which is based in Budapest - was down 2.1% at 3,814.00 pence on Monday in London.
