(Sharecast News) - Financial markets' focus over the coming week will shift towards with the European Central Bank's policy meeting on Thursday front and centre on investors' minds.
In recent days, consensus has shifted towards expectations for a 75 basis point hike in its main refinancing rate to 1.25%.
For their part, economists at Barclays Research are also expecting the ECB to keep its tiered system of excess reserves remuneration.
Investors will also be analysing Russian state-owned natural gas giant Gazprom's apparent decision last Friday to suspend flows to Germany indefinitely and its impact on financial markets.
Against that backdrop, Monday will see the release of final readings for S&P Global's euro area and UK Purchasing Managers' Indices for services sector activity in the month of August.
The next day it will be the Institute for Supply Management's turn to release its own US services PMI.
Worth noting, several Federal ,Reserve officials will be taking to the podium over the course of the week.
Not least among them will Fed chairman Jerome Powell on Thursday.
In Asia, Wednesday will bring with it figures for Chinese foreign trade, also covering the month of August, followed by readings on consumer and producer prices in Asia´s largest economy, on Friday.
Rate-setters in Sydney will be meeting to decide on rates on Wednesday, followed by their peers in Malaysia on Thursday.
