Smiths Hires AstraZeneca Executive Cheng As Non-Executive Director

Thu, 25th Jul 2019 13:28

(Alliance News) - Engineering company Smiths Group PLC said Thursday AstraZeneca PLC executive Pam Cheng will join the engineering firm as non-executive director from the start of March 2020.

Cheng is currently the vice president of operations & information technology at the FTSE 100-listed drugmaker AstraZeneca, having joined the firm from Merck Inc in 2015.

She will join FTSE 100-listed Smiths at the start of March 2020, sitting as a member of the nomination & governance, audit & risk and remuneration committees.

Smiths Chair George Buckley said he was "delighted" Cheng was joining the firm as her "experience in the areas of manufacturing, supply chain and technology gained with large global businesses in strategically important regions for Smiths will further strengthen the board's discussions on embedding world class operations."

Shares in Smiths were 1.4% higher at 1,648.50 pence in London on Thursday.
