SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Recruiters rise after SThree ups guidance

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Thursday.

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

SThree PLC, up 6.5% at 451.00 pence, 12-month range 228.50p-459.50p. The recruiter raises its pretax profit expectations for the financial year ending November 30, after upbeat second quarter. SThree expects pretax profit to be materially above consensus of GBP39.7 million. It posted pretax profit of GBP30.6 million for financial 2020. Peers Robert Walters PLC, Hays PLC and PageGroup PLC were up 4.8%, 0.2% and 0.2% respectively in a positive read-across.

Braemar Shipping Services PLC, up 249.44p, 12-month range 109.70p-264.0p. Shipping services provider says pretax profit rose for financial 2021 and that it was reinstating dividend payments. For year ended February 28, revenue down to GBP111.8 million from GBP117.7 million last year and pretax profit up to GBP9.4 million from GBP6.3 million. Reinstates dividend of 5p per share for the year.

Foxtons Group PLC, up 1.5% at 62.04p, 12-month range 41.40p-75.80p. The estate agent says it has seen strong trading momentum within business since mid-April. Says following a 49% increase in Foxtons first-quarter sales revenue versus both 2020 and 2019, the sales commission pipeline has continued to grow and is now 65% ahead of last year and 17%. As such, it now expects adjusted operating profit for the first half of the year is expected to be significantly ahead of both 2020 and 2019. It posted operating profit of GBP1.9 million in 2020.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

NewRiver REIT PLC, down 4.7% at 100.20p, 12-month range 42.70p-109.20p. The retail landlord says the financial year to March 31 was dominated by Covid-19 disruption. NewRiver's net asset value per share as at March 31 was 151p, down from 201p at the same time last year. Revenue was GBP91.1 million, up from GBP144.8 million year before and pretax loss widens to GBP153.2 million from GBP121.6 million.
