Saga Hires New People Chief As Elliott Capital Takes Stake

Wed, 17th Jul 2019 09:43

(Alliance News) - Over-50s insurance and travel firm Saga PLC said Wednesday it has appointed Jane Storm as chief people officer with effect from October 1.

Storm is currently chief people officer at newspaper and magazine wholesale distributor Connect Group PLC, having served in that role since 2017.

Prior to that she was part of blue chip retailer Tesco PLC for 18 years from 1999, leaving as human resources director.

"We are delighted Jane will be joining Saga. Her extensive human resources experience will be invaluable at this pivotal moment in our business, as we focus on becoming an increasingly customer centric organisation and with the recent launch of our three-year fixed price insurance offering and our fantastic new cruise ship, the Spirit of Discovery, which has just carried her first passengers," said Chief Executive Lance Batchelor.

In a separate announcement Saga said Elliott Capital Advisors LP now holds a 5.1% interest in the company in a deal on Friday last week. Elliott's previous holding, if any at all, was not disclosed.

Shares in Saga were up 3.9% at 44.58 pence on Wednesday in London.
