OptiBiotix receives British Retail Consortium accreditation

Wed, 05th Jan 2022 15:31

(Alliance News) - OptiBiotix Health PLC announced on Wednesday it had obtained accreditation from the British Retail Consortium, allowing the company to do business with large global retailers.

The BRC certification is the first to meet the Global Food Safety Initiative, enabling the life sciences company to do business with retailers such as Tesco PLC and Walmart Inc.

In addition, it may now sell to other large manufacturers, ingredient companies, and food service organizations who require the certification in their approval process.

Rene Kamminga, chief executive officer of York-based ObtiBiotix, commented: "We are very pleased to announce our BRC accreditation which supports our commercial strategy of selling final product solutions to partners in the retail channel containing our science backed pro and prebiotic ingredients. I am particularly proud of our team which achieved this accreditation in a relatively short period of time."

The life sciences company's share price fell by 2.7% to 45.23 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
