(Alliance News) - Edenville Energy PLC said Monday it has promoted Non-Executive Director Alistair Muir as chief executive officer with effect on Friday.
He will be replacing Rufus Short, who will step down from the role on the same date after six years since 2013, moving to a non-executive capacity in order to devote more time to family.
Muir was appointed as a non-executive director at the coal developer in September.
Muir has over 25 years' experience in mining, Edenville said, spending most of his time in the coal, uranium, and iron ore sectors. Most of his career has been spent in emerging markets, such as Tanzania, Turkey, and central Asia.
"I am pleased that we have someone of the calibre of Alistair to take on the role of chief executive. He has a wealth of operational mining experience, including in Tanzania. In particular his international coal mining experience, coupled with project management expertise, make him ideally suited to his new role as we continue to progress our flagship Rukwa coal project in Tanzania," said Non-Executive Chair Jeffrey Malaihollo.
Shares in Edenville Energy were up 7.5% at 0.043 pence on Monday in London.
