Carnival Flogs Four Holland America Ships To Unnamed Buyers

Thu, 16th Jul 2020 11:51

(Alliance News) - Carnival PLC on Thursday said it has agreed to sell four ships in its Holland America Fleet.

Amsterdam, Maasdam, Rotterdam and Veendam will leave the fleet, the cruise ship operator explained.

"The ships have been sold in pairs, with the S-Class Maasdam and Veendam transferring to one company in August 2020, while the R-Class Amsterdam and Rotterdam will move to another company in fall 2020," Carnival said.

The names of the buyers and the sale prices were not disclosed.

"Guests with bookings on future sailings of these ships will be notified that these cruises will be cancelled or changed," Carnival added.

Also on Thursday, the FTSE 250 cruise operator priced about USD1.26 billion worth of senior secured notes.

It will offer USD775 million of 10.500% notes and EUR425 million of 10.125% notes, with both issues due in 2026.

Carnival said it expects to "use the net proceeds from the offerings of the notes for general corporate purposes".

Last Friday, Carnival reported a bruising net loss of USD5.16 billion for its first half ended May 31.

Revenue came in at USD5.52 billion, down 42% year-on-year from USD9.51 billion.

Carnival shares were 0.4% higher at 1,059.50 pence each in London on Thursday morning.
