Boku launches mobile identity partnership with French carriers

Tue, 20th Apr 2021 12:13

(Alliance News) - Mobile payments platform Boku Inc has partnered with French carriers to launch mobile identity services in the country, it said on Tuesday.

The partnership will see Boku and French mobile service providers SFR, Orange SA and Bouygues SA Telecom launch mobile identity products aimed at "protecting consumers against cyber-hacks, account takeover attacks, SIM swap attacks, and other forms of digital fraud".

San Francisco, California-headquartered Boku said there was growing demand for mobile identity authentication services in France as more companies realise the importance of digital security due to rising online fraud levels. Boku will use identity proofing methods and phone number verification to target common tactics used by fraudsters.

"We are honored to partner with SFR, Orange and Bouygues Telecom to introduce a safer and more seamless digital world for mobile users in France," said Boku General Manager for Identity Stuart Neal.

"Boku has already built the most comprehensive network of direct mobile operator connections for identity and extending our capabilities into France is a major milestone as we continue to expand globally."

Shares in Boku were quoted at 178.40 pence in London at midday on Tuesday, down 0.1%. The stock is up 24% so far in 2021.
