LONDON (Alliance News) - Salt Lake Potash Ltd on Friday said it made progress on the Lake Wells potash project in Western Australia in the first quarter of 2016 and will now move to start testing programmes as it appointed a new chief executive.
Salt Lake said it expanded the mineral resources at Lake Wells in the first quarter to 80-85 million tonnes of sulphate of potash, up substantially against the 29 million tonne estimate for the shallow resource.
The company also started scoping studies at the project, managed by London-listed Amec Foster Wheeler PLC.
Salt Lake said it has now started a pump testing programme at Lake Well to measure the hydraulic properties of the project and is planning field evaporation trials based on bulk samples.
Salt Lake also said Matthew Syme, previously a non-executive director, has been appointed chief executive with immediate effect. The company said Syme has 28 years of experience in the mining industry.
Salt Lake shares were untraded on Friday, having last traded at 18.56 pence.
