IN BRIEF: Tufton Oceanic to sell Handysize Bulker for USD16.2 million

Tufton Oceanic Assets Ltd - London-based maritime assets investor - Says it has agreed to sell the Handysize Bulker Dragon carrier for USD16.2 million. The vessel is, taking its charter into account, being sold for 119% of depreciated replacement cost. It was acquired for 74% of DRC in 2018.

"This sale, together with the Handy Bulker investments announced last month, demonstrate the company's commitment to ESG and capital re-allocation. The latter is increasingly relevant given absolute and relative movements across and within the main shipping markets since the third-quarter," it adds.

Current stock price: USD1.37

Year-to-date change: up 47%

Tufton Oceanic Assets Ltd - Guernsey, England based investment company specialising in second-hand commercial sea vessels - Agrees to sell its Pollock and Dachshund Handysize product tankers for a total of USD41.8 million. Price represents a 3.1% premium to their most recent holding net asset value of USD40.5 million. Company expects deal to close during the second quarter of 2024 after the tankers complete their current charters. Also extends employment of 2015-built MR product tanker Exceptional, with its current charter lasting three years from January 1. Tufton expects a net yield of around 13% for the next two years.

Tufton Oceanic Assets Ltd - Guernsey, UK-based investment company focused on second-hand commercial vessels - Net asset value per share rises to USD1.376 in six months ended December 31, from USD1.158 at financial year end. "It has been an active second half of 2021 and that activity has continued into 2022. During the financial period, the company agreed to acquire five vessels of which three were delivered during the period and two were delivered after the period," Tufton says.
