HOUSTON, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Gasoline retreated in the LosAngeles wholesale market on Thursday as a refinery stoppedventing coming from a storage tank, traders said.
December-delivery CARBOB gasoline fell 3.5 cents a gallon to10.5 cents a gallon under January NYMEX RBOB gasoline in L.A.
Exxon Mobil Corp.'s 149,500 bpd Torrance, Californiarefinery stopped venting that had been coming from a storagetank.
San Francisco Bay market December CARBOB gained 2 cents agallon at 18 cents a gallon under January NYMEX RBOB following amalfunction at Royal Dutch Shell's 156,400 bpdMartinez, California refinery.
CARBOB gasoline is mandated by the California Air ResourcesBoard (CARB) for use in that state and meets more stringentanti-pollution standards than the gasoline required by the U.S.Environmental Protection Agency, which is used in most of thecountry. CARBOB is made to blend with ethanol.
EPA gasoline in the Portland, Oregon market dipped 0.5 centat 19 cents a gallon under January NYMEX RBOB.
Los Angeles December CARB diesel was steady at 5 cents agallon under January NYMEX heating oil. Bay market December CARBdiesel gained 1 cent at 10 cents a gallon under the JanuaryNYMEX benchmark.
The California Air Resources Board also requires astate-specific ultra-low-sulfur diesel with a more stringentformula than EPA diesel.
Portland EPA diesel retreated 1 cent to 11 cents a gallonunder January heating oil.
