AMSTERDAM/LONDON, May 2 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell said a fire at the propane de-asphalting (PDA) unit ofits Pernis refinery in Rotterdam was put out early on Thursdaymorning and that the affected unit has been taken out ofproduction.
The fire started around 0200 GMT after a small pipe in oneif the furnaces burst, and fire fighters brought the fire undercontrol shortly afterwards, Shell said on its website.
Additional flaring occurred when the unit was taken out ofproduction, Shell said, adding that no one was injured.
Shell spokesman Wim van de Wiel said the fire had a limitedimpact on operations at the 400,000 barrel per day refinery andthat the PDA unit would be shut while an investigation into thefire was underway.
