AMSTERDAM, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The Dutch parliament on Tuesdayapproved a motion calling on the Cabinet to "substantiallylower" gas production from the country's large Groningen gasfield for safety reasons.
The government has curtailed production from the field,Europe's largest, twice this year after it was censured bypublic safety authorities for not taking the threat ofproduction-linked earthquakes seriously enough.
The motion was submitted by opposition parties, but endorsedby the Labour party, the junior partner in Prime Minister MarkRutte's centrist coalition. (Reporting by Toby Sterling)
