LONDON, April 24 (Reuters) - Standard Chartered said it was "listening very carefully" to shareholders onwhether the Asia-focused bank should consider moving itsheadquarters out of Britain following the recent rise in UK banktax.
Rival HSBC said on Friday it has started a reviewof whether to move domicile out of Britain, and Reuters haspreviously reported investors want both HSBC and StandardChartered management to consider a move.
"We continue to keep our UK domicile under review. Althoughwe have no current plans to move our domicile, we are listeningvery carefully to our shareholders' views on this issuefollowing the latest increase in the levy, the likelihood of anyfuture increases, and its impact on the group's costs," aspokesman for Standard Chartered said on Friday.
