IN BRIEF: European Assets Trust tops benchmark as celebrates 50th year

European Assets Trust PLC - invests in European quoted small and medium-sized companies - Net asset value is 145.93 pence on December 31, up from 132.75p a year before. NAV total return in sterling terms is 16.3% in 2021, compared to a 14.9% return for the trust's benchmark, the EMIX Smaller European Companies (ex UK) index. Share price total return is 23.2%, as the discount to NAV narrows to 4.4% as of December 31 from 9.4% a year before. Declares 8.80 pence per share dividend for 2022, up 10% from the 2021 dividend of 8.00p.

Trust notes it is celebrating its 50th anniversary, having been created in 1972. The trust was listed in Amsterdam before listing in London as well in 1983.

Current stock price: 113.88p

12-month change: down 5.1%

European Assets Trust PLC - London-based trust, which invests in small to mid-cap EU companies - Says its net asset value total return in 2023 was 8.2%, behind its 9.8% benchmark.
