The UK small caps index rises 0.2 percent,underperforming both the midcaps, up 0.3 percent, andthe FTSE AIM All Share index, which gains 0.4 percent.

"There are pockets of sector demand, but this is yet tobecome broadly based and the UK order book remains around the200 million pounds ($305.94 million) level. Near term focus ison performing core commercial disciplines better to rebuildoperating margins towards the target 5-6 percent in the mediumterm," Toby Thorrington, analyst at Edison Investment Research,says.
