* Chicago CBOB gasoline down 2.50 cents/gallon * Gulf Coast gasoline markets quiet on Tuesday * Harbor jet fuel up 0.75 cents/gallon NEW YORK, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Chicago cash gasoline dipped about 2.50 cents agallon on Tuesday as refiners brought surplus barrels to the market upon theirreturn from a long holiday weekend, traders said. Chicago CBOB gasoline traded at 30.00/28.00 cents under the February RBOBgasoline futures contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). An Arctic blast is blowing through the U.S. Midwest and Northeast, whichcould suppress demand for gasoline in the coming days. The cold snap has alreadyled to the shut down of units at BP-Husky's 135,000 bpd Toledo,Ohio refinery, according to regulators. Meanwhile, the smallest crude distillation unit at BP Plc 337,000 barrel perday (bpd) Whiting, Indiana refinery continued to operate on Tuesday despitereports that it was shut. The Gulf Coast gasoline market was subdued on Tuesday with no tradesreported for the newly prompt M4 conventional and A4 CBOB gasoline cycles. M4 gasoline was called at 17.25 cents under NYMEX February RBOB gasolinefutures and A4 gasoline at 20.00 cents under futures, traders said. This was despite the start of the new, 325,000 barrels-per-day crude unit atMotiva Enterprises' Port Arthur, Texas, refinery, over the weekend,which will more than double the plant's capacity. In the New York Harbor, jet fuel differentials resumed their climb afterfalling late last week. Prompt jet fuel was talked at 17.50/18.50 cents pergallon over February heating oil futures, traders said. M4 conventional gasoline was seen done at 3.00 cents per gallon overFebruary RBOB futures, up 0.75 cents from levels observed last week. F5 RBOB for any-month delivery was talked at 1.75/1.25 cents per gallonunder February RBOB futures, traders said.
