BRASILIA, Dec 7 (Reuters) - Brazil environmental regulatorIbama on Friday said it has denied a permit to French oil majorTotal SA to drill in the environmentally sensitive Fozdo Amazonas Basin.
Ibama said in a statement that it agreed with a technicalassessment that indicated oil exploration in the area wouldpresent risks to reefs and biodiversity. BP Plc andPetroleo Brasileiro SA are also investors in theproject, which is being operated by Total.
