HOUSTON, Sept 10 (Reuters) - A gasoline-producing fluidiccatalytic cracking unit was shut down at BP Plc's 400,000barrel-per-day (bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery on Tuesday afterthe unit malfunctioned, according to sources familiar withoperations at the refinery.
Energy industry intelligence service Genscape said the84,500 bpd cat cracker unit was shut on Tuesday morning. One ofthe sources said the unit usually runs at about 63,000 bpd.
BP hopes to return the FCC to production later this week, asource said. The refinery has another FCC, which continues tooperate. (Reporting by Erwin Seba)
