BUCHAREST, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, pressreports and events to watch which may affect Romanian financialmarkets on Thursday.

DEBT TENDER

Romania plans to sell 200 million lei ($46.57 million) ofnew Sept. 2034 treasury bonds.

EU CHIEF PROSECUTOR

European Union ambassadors are expected to vote on Thursdayfor their choice of EU chief prosecutor. The EuropeanParliament's preferred candidate is Romania's former chiefanti-corruption prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi.

Romania's EU ambassador has been mandated to vote againstKovesi on Thursday, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila said onWednesday. The government, which has been criticised for itsattempts to weaken anti-corruption legislation and the rule oflaw, succeeded in removing Kovesi from the anti-corruptionagency last year.

The EU wants to set up the European Public Prosecutor'sOffice (EPPO) next year to tackle graft, VAT fraud and othercrimes involving the bloc's multi-billion-euro joint budget.

CONSTITUTIONAL COURT

Romania's top court said on Wednesday that President KlausIohannis must appoint interim ministers after the ruling SocialDemocrat Party lost its junior coalition partner, even thoughthe government has yet to win a confidence vote in parliament tostay in office.

GREECE'S NBG

National Bank (NBG) plans to sell four portfoliosof non-performing loans this year, bankers close to the processsaid, as Greece's recovering economy allows its major banks tofocus on balance sheet repair after a 10-year debt crisis.

One of the portfolios consisting of 200 million euros ofcollateralised business loans was in Romania.

CEE MARKETS

Hungary's forint on Wednesday pulled back from a record lowhit in the previous session with central European currenciessteadying, as markets waited on the outcome of U.S. FederalReserve meeting which is expected to bring another rate cut.

NUCLEAR REACTOR

Romanian state-owned nuclear power producer NuclearelectricaROSNN.BX said on Wednesday it has shut down its first reactorfor works at some process parametres.

POWER PRICES

Electricity prices on the spot market for next-day deliveryclimbed to an all-time high of 750 lei ($174.65) per megawatt onWednesday, more than double than other countries in the region,state news agency Agerpres said quoting OPCOM data.
