WASHINGTON, March 23 (Reuters) - Central banks may face a hard task in limiting the impact of factors such as currency volatility which can lead to businesses raising prices in an inflationary way, Bank of England policymaker Catherine Mann said on Thursday.
"We may well be entering a very different regime where we are going to have to work much harder as central banks in order to rein in and tighten in the distributions that firms are facing when they are making their pricing decisions," she said.
Mann was speaking at an event hosted by Washington's Peterson Institute for International Economics.
Earlier on Thursday, the Bank of England raised its main interest rate to 4.25% from 4%, a decision which Mann voted for. (Reporting by Howard Schneider, writing by David Milliken, Editing by Angus MacSwan)
