bought ocdo at 1099
Yes, NMC suspension is marked on my positions and watchlist, I am hoping it is good news within the Freeh report.
I think I panic bought into OCDO, was set up to do the same with MCRO. Oh dear.
I just bought at £10.89 and £7.46 - quite happy with those so far today.
You got good prices, nice exercise of restraint!
I bought MCRO at 749, still at least I have 1.95% more shares than yesterday.
On OCDO, I have 1.88% more shares.
RNS on MNC, company applied for suspension. No further confirmed information. Could be good, could be bad, NMC chat room is all over the place with suggestions of suspension lasting till April (company report due) or maybe this afternoon!
Suggested re-opening prices range from £5 to £10. Ha, glad I only have 500 shares at moment.
Volatility is what I've been craving on OCDO for ages - average 2% extra shares each day can equate to 10% over a week which is a decent amount of income to have. If you're able to do that on a number of shares then all the better but I'm just concentrating here and will dip in and out of MCRO as and when appropriate - my holding there is ticking over quite nicely now.
Yes had a quick look at the NMC board before news of the suspension. I've known them to last anything from a few hours to a few months, but to be honest, I think its the right thing for the company to do as the share price is clearly being manipulated and I suppose for long term shareholders its not a nice thing for them to see.
Yes I would be VERY happy to be adding 10% to my sharewholdings each week of course, heck, I would
be VERY happy with 5%.
FTSE recovering a little. Looking at the moment like we called the right moment to buy OCDO but MCRO, not so good.
FTSE starting to recover, DOW futures only 0.50% down.
Not disappointed with either trades today - OK didn't get the bottom with MCRO, but at least we sold on a peak yesterday and have both increased our holdings today so can't be all bad.
There's a lot of big fallers on the markets today.
'No need to panic Captain Mainwaring!' So says Ronald Dump after first case of Corona (and I don't mean beer) arrives in California. Unfortunately Dow Futures doesnt seem to agree. The most worrying thing to me about at the moment is the reinfection that has accord in very few cases. Still too little known about it. G4s looks tempting as does Nano that Have been in and out of before. It is alleged that Samsung infringed their copyright It might just be cheaper for Samsung to buy the company than defend a fairly strong case for the complainant. Sometimes they can be blooming obstinate and no doubt loyal see dollars flashing passed their eyes like the proverbial one armed bandit. What with NMC and a few others even if you find a good stock can you trust it? OCD holding remarkably well compared to poor old M&S. They might as well buy them out.
typo lawyers, not loyal
Just had the dormer window double glazed and it proved my worst nightmare come true, having never been unfortunate enough to require their services of double glares before. Came highly recommended . About a month late and the window can't open properly and they've messed up the rafters each side. All got to come out again if we get another day when its not raining, Grrrrrrrrrrr! Just makes me mad enough to buy more shares!
Yes it is a bit like that today isn't it O. I think we'll start to lift off the bottom once the US markets open - their futures are only down 1% so far - so should be able to sell my holdings at a profit by about 4 for a repeat tomorrow - at least its a bit more fun with some volatility if you know what you're doing.
Sorry I don't know anything about the companies you mention - if there are big fallers though I find sometimes its better to wait until at least 2.30 to see if they are going to bounce before buying in.
Did you read what I was saying about Nouriel Roubini on Bloomberg yesterday - I just watched it again just to make sure I wasn't imagining what he was saying - thinks if Donald Trump loses election later this year he'll lose it and put troops on the street - although laughable, I wouldn't put it past him!
Morning O. My favourite Dad's army quote is "don't tell him your name Pike"
No definitely wouldn't surprise me at all. He is capable of absolutely anything. Most people thought he would survive 6 months as President. He and Boris are bomb proof!
Wall Street analysts including Citi are now bracing for a fall of 20% from recent highs.
A drop of that magnitude would constitute a technical bear market and the end of a ten-year upward trend.
The stock market bloodbath continues on Thursday with global stocks plunging for the sixth-day straight. Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) futures collapsed as much as 400 points overnight. Be very careful. Just about managed to sit on my hands. Should I ask my girlfriend to hand cuff me?
I think US share prices have been over valued/inflated and kept that way by fair means or foul for a long time now O so I wouldn't be surprised to see an even bigger fall.
The selling on the UK market at the moment seems to be accelerating - probably to a crescendo around 2.00 ish and I would fully expect it to start rebounding off the lows once the US market opens - well that's what I'm hoping will happen and what's the odds on we'll start tomorrow in the positive before maybe another sell off because its Friday - its all a game!
Well I wasn't expecting such a big fall on MCRO today - should have looked at the graph first duh. I think when this virus thing eventually blows over there's going to be some bargains to be had in the airline sector - Easyjet has fallen from £15.50 odd to £10.70 odd in a week - I wouldn't be surprised to see it go even lower.
Just breaking news S on NMC - saying on Bloomberg that NMC Health says the FCA has started a formal enforcement probe - don't know what that means but thought I'd let you know.
Sold my biggest tranche of LLOY an hour ago at 50.255, volume had increased a lot and all of it seemed to be SELLs. Thought it looked like going sub 50p so I bit the bullet.
Yes that FCA formal enforcement probe is not unexpected. NMC were trying to sort the mess out internally, then with the ex FBI man Feehy doing an investigation but there are compromising connections between different parties so I wonder whether the market would accept the findings of an "internal" report.
Noticed an item in paper today (I read it free of charge in Waitrose cafe...can't now afford my own newspaper. LOL). Blackrock have bought a university halls of residence/flats provider called IQ in a 4.7 £Billion deal, biggest ever UK property deal. It has made me look afresh at WJG, aim listed, mcap £680m, tidler by comparison but cheap at the moment I am thinking.
Just noticed that PLUS500 have shrugged off the 29p divi fall today. I have seen them do this before. I guess people are still going to be dealing even, or especially, in a downwards market.
Just added a couple of more shares in MCRO @ 709 .. out of funds ... missed the bottom of 707 by time trade took place! Hope it offsets my higher priced MCRO! At least can wait on dividend!!!
For a share with wide range Spike/Shake look at Diageo - often over 60p a day ... graph shows 20p range! Several share announcements about Diageo, seemingly contradictory. I have a few inherited shares in there but certificated so can't play until transferred to HL. Diageo go ex divi today ... so may be good price Tomorrow?
