I checked with Perplexity.ai Legalwolf, and it said that "DEMIRS (Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety) provides pre-lodgement advice to help applicants prepare correct applications". Also taking into account the processing fee, it could very well be that the application was never submitted, because they were advised that the application as it stood did not meet requirements after the resource upgrade. I think Hamilton being a shareholder just like Bo Sears and David Minchin at Helix is a bit too eager for success, and therefore they jump the gun sometimes. I agree with your analysis that it is prudent to wait and see how things progress after this minor faux pas.

I am guessing that GEX didn't realise that the expanded area would need to be declared. DEMIRS naturally told them to update it. Hence the delay.

Everything was fine with DEMIRS according to the RNS on 20/12/24. The only issues at that stage were with GEX not being able to get Reports in due to the bad weather. That RNS also told us that DEMIRS was closed until 3 Jan. Then we had a RNS on 10 January, saying DEMIRS now want an expanded EIR. So when exactly did DEMIRS move the goalposts and inform GEX of this? It must have been some time between 3 and 10 January?

How can we be sure that the goalposts won't change again?

Why is there no evidence of an application on the portal?

These are some of the questions that GEX need to address to restore buying sentiment and confidence. Personally, I would wait now to see whether/what impact there might be when the lock in period comes to an end. You really don't want heavy selling during a period when there is not going to be any new newsflow.

So I think GEX is far too risky right now, and one to revisit if or when the permit application is showing up with DEMIRS. All imo and dyor
