RE: Case in favour of investing hereWed 13:46
Jay I cannot talk about TLOU on here, I hope you understand.
Clued , I have read Dactions reaction and concur , but regarding the carbon credits , with a deadline of 2050 for carbon neutrality - that market is going to be stronger day by day as more companies need to buy carbon credits. The price , according to Paul Dolan, was $10 per credit on the voluntary market, is expected to reach $60 if it has not already, and to keep on climbing!
The market looks safe unless there is a change of heart globally or someone invents a CO2 to Bacardi converter for every household.
WBI policy is complicated. I am unsure if anyone knows where it is going?
Currently Paul has ruled out earning credits from the 1m acres , and Woodbois cannot afford to buy plots that are devoid of trees. £100m was mentioned but he hopes people with that money will buy land and employ WBI to manage it for them.
The t&c of those management contracts will give a clue as how profitable carbon credits might be. I guess WBI need to make enough to buy their on plots because they will earn carbon credits. The alternative is make enough from timber to fund plots.
Personally, I find it hard to accept that Gabon iteself will take everyy credit due from WBI's acreage. If there are deforested areas due to now illegal timber production , I cannot see why WBI cannot reforest them , especially if they change the variety of trees, and claim credits for the new saplings?
I guess Gabon could claim natural reforestation was suppressed by the new trees, but is that not true of the vacant plots if they are left for long enough e.g. decades or centuries?
I said it is complicated, but if you go up to East Anglia , it will all come out in the wash.
As Dactions said!
