COVID-19 update
Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, our technical support teams have continued to provide the excellent service our customers expect.
NiptSteve, about the only thing I can see is that Ygen are not yet UKAS accredited. However, as long as they have applied I think that is still okay. Yes, it won't be very long before a simpler easier more comfortable way for testing comes along, and not just for Covid either.That is what that £22B tender is all about goIng forward.
Truro, I asked this very same question about PCR becoming obsolete and got this reply from the company;
Thanks for your email.
''Antigen PCR is not an old style of test - it's always going to be the backbone of any nation's testing strategy as the accuracy and reliability of this lab-based testing can never be replicated by rapid tests. Antigen PCR is what is used in all NHS, Lighthouse and contracted commercial laboratories in the UK.
Lateral flow tests for antibody testing and antigen testing are effective for screening - but not to provide a clinically relevant results at the moment. If an individual is positive from a lateral flow antigen test then they would still be required to take an antigen PCR test for a true diagnostics test''.
Let’s see if we make this list due to be published on Dec 15th:

Re Clarigene being left behind by other tests - I don’t think it will be too long before we see progress on a simpler/less uncomfortable means of providing a sample.
we know Ygen were looking at a saliva test a while back. Not sure that it's any quicker mind? I suppose luckily we don't need or can do the bigger numbers others are reliant on. If we can do 20/30k tests a month that will certainly help things along if core is taking a bit of a dip.
PCR will be the 'gold standard' for a while yet it seems. Have you seen the criteria for travel tests, most countries stipulate PCR tests because the rapid stuff isn't very good. Don't forget they have doubled capacity and maybe even more to come. This is only an 'adjacency' revenue to core!! My hope is we get a good slice of the Tenders coming up.
Well not according to the October update Andy - no nasties there but no gold stars either. Obviously interest will be on any update on current trading. I do though have a bit of a concern. We have obviously spent a fair bit of effort and cash on the highly accurate Claragine test. But the market has moved on. Results can now be hours not days, they may be less accurate but you could do multiple tests to overcome that.
I've got a feeling our test is now superseded and sales will diminish. Just hope our costs will be recovered. Mind you perhaps we are working on a quicker test. But on balance I hope that, as LR said, our core business has not been compromised by Covid distraction.
happening, we have trades and bot bad volume for us. buys out weighing sells yet the price fell?
December nearly with us are the half year results going to be an early present?
