Ygen have many other strings to their bow too. Must be close to Illumina product approval as well.
That's the beauty of this one compared to Ncyt. They have had a huge rise whereas we have not.More chance of multi bagging here now...said he hopefully
it's moving so quick I don't think they know their arse from their elbows just now. I would think that NCYT will be swamped with orders so makes it more likely that Ygen will supply whole kits going forwards, hopefully.
thanks, but they should make it clear by now after all these news coming out.
we do know that NCYT have capability to do 4m tests per month. So a % of that I suppose.
no, because we don't know what Ygen input is yet. It could be a little or a lot, that's the problem. Until they divulge some numbers it's all guesswork. Ygen only has a fairly small input atm, but could ramp up to supplying the whole kit/test
what about the numbers coming from ncyt? shouldn't they help?
it's still very early days with no numbers to give the market some sort of heads up.
We have a seller who is keeping the price down
When they are gone we should see some big days
How come Ygen doesn't move up if Ncyt moves. Aren't they not linked when it comes down to manufacturing those testing kits?
yes good clue that eh..lol Massive news for NCYT. Will be great if Ygen can get a good slice of it and hopefully ramp up to supplying full kits.
Haha bakky WHO indeed!
That's pretty massive
Our manufacturing partner now has WHO approval

Big day tomorrow.
who might have some good news tomorrow, YGEN or NCYT?
Just for information this is the death released by PHE each day compared with the correctly calculated figures released by ONS two weeks later.
The real death rate is 80% higher than the daily PHE figure.

NYCT (and YGEN) do antigen. Hayden effectively said YGEN will not be doing antibody as that was a different type of technology.
There appear to be no effective antibody tests at present. The government has obtained 3.5M of them from China, but they don't work.
This was covered in the press briefing this evening, although Dominic Raab fobbed off the questioner slightly.
No one has a working antibody test anywhere in the world at present, despite the spin put about by various outlets (and politicians) over recent weeks.
There was a trading update on 8th April last year. There is a new presentation on the company website dated April 2020, which appeared a few days ago.
Hopefully a sign we will get news soon.
Apologies for the typos, still on the mend myself.
Novacyt's COVID-19 diagnostic tests developed by Primerdesign is an "antigen" test. It tests whether you have the virus and not the symptoms. This is important to alert individuals to self-isolate in the first place to stall the spread.
Another typo I would like to take the opportunity to correct is...
"Both tests are complementary as even if you have had the "antibody" test you will STILL need to take the "antigen" test to prove that you do not have the virus if you are asymptomatic." This has been the example in the Philippines.
NCYT do antigen not antibody?
. 'An example of the antibody test is Novacyt's COVID-19 diagnostic tests developed by Primerdesign which YourGene has already confirmed via RNS they are supporting the PCR DNA amplification and potentially extending their involvement for the full test. YourGene's labs have already the equipment to support PCR testing hence this is the logical option'.
Correct.
There are two types of tests (1) antingen; and (2) antibody.
An antigen test detects the presence (or absence) of an antigen, not antibodies. An antigen is a structure within a virus that triggers the immune system's response to fight off the infection. It can be detected in blood before antibodies are made. So it tests whether you have the virus before you have symptoms. An example of the antibody test is Novacyt's COVID-19 diagnostic tests developed by Primerdesign which YourGene has already confirmed via RNS they are supporting the PCR DNA amplification and potentially extending their involvement for the full test. YourGene's labs have already the equipment to support PCR testing hence this is the logical option.
An antibody test can detect if a person has had coronavirus before and has since recovered. This is important for example to test if self-isolating NHS workers can return to the front-line. An example of this anti-body test is being developed by MERC and an example from another Chinese provider had 3.5m home-test kits of these were bought by the UK government today.
Both tests are complementary as even if you have had the antibody test you will STILL need to take the antibody test to prove that you do not have the virus if you are asymptomatic. These tests would need to be repeated throughout the year however if you had the virus you will develop a "herd immunity".
The event was falsely advertised as a YourGene webinar when it wasn't. Key message from the Hayden Jeffries, Operations Manager for me was that the throughput can be managed without impacting BAU at present and that there was no mention that the BAU orders had been impaired so there was less demand which helped to accommodate this. I suspect that the trading statement will be delayed till all backroom developments are finalised unless they opt not to include a forward looking statement which could change potentially significantly, potentially shortly. We shall know all soon though.
I found it reassuring that they have enough of the materials that they need to support the growth in the core business and the new covid manufacturing and testing (considering the ongoing national debate about shortage of reagents and equipment etc).
Also that the lab in Taipei is also supporting the covid effort out there.
My question about when we could expect some further information re volumes of the covid business wasn't answered but hopefully we'll hear something soon.
the only bit of info for me is the fact that they are not anything to do with antibody tests.
I asked a question as to whether the materials they are providing to Novacyt were for tests that are considered reliable, the guy referred me to Novacyt so not a conclusive answer.
