Lets have some non covid, core NIPT news, perhaps awaited USA contract.
Really been in the slow lane in non covid news!
Oh yes every cloud had a silver lining and non better than folks here to treat all news as as good news. Isn't this great lol
Only areas for OCR are now the group not double vaccinated and those returning whose lateral flow test is positive. A small fraction of what we had even before todays announcement travel was opened up. Our airport contract and clients with airport stands will hsve to survive on LFT and clearly our numbers will dive initially as MHC business with boots shows. Keep plugging the govt contract but we only know of one drawdown so far and no figures. Lets be honest for a change...this is a hiccup and makes me wonder how our proposed new revenue forecast including covid has just been downgraded.
There is still a bit of business for Pcr. All non vaxxed will need a day 2/8 and many other countries still want a pcr before entry. How long before the LFT experiment goes t its up and pcr is back?
They cannot get rid of pcr as it's needed to track the variants. and Ygen should be doing well there too.
so. they will still use pcr for travel until the end of Oct. Another 5/6 weeks to make hay. Good job Ygen have a small £34M deal tucked away..
Just looking at Boots site.
Now does show a sales figure.....
Just 11 sold in last 24 hours!
Lets hope by later today when they announce, they have woken up and changed their mind!
LFT will 'find' only 25% according to govt figures. Hmmm! yes it does seem it is to keep the travel industry happy. The cost of using pcr for travel will seem a pittance when a variant breaks out that the current vaccines can't deal with. More travel lockdowns to come maybe, now that will work wonders for the travel industry won't it?
I think this experiment to appease the travel industry could well backfire. Just looking for trouble imo. A perfect storm for a new variant to evolve that renders vaccinations to the bin. Start all over again, lock downs and all!
We must remember that after the first week of September travel revenue was always going to drop. Can only see lft use for travel adding to the problem. Still costing £30+ a pop anyway. The ones who take the tests at home will just not bother doing the test at all. They will just swipe the barcode and report as clear.
Typo.....Mitigation not litigation.
Lol. Had enough litigation to last a life time already.
Steve
Well we are in the 2 and 8 day testing market and assume its included in MHC but I don't specifically know. I do know volumes for travel PCR testing are falling off a cliff just as travel opens. What level of litigation and take up by track and trace for our gov additional capacity contract I don't know.
Feels like a hiccup to me and the share price though and all deja-vu typical unfortunately.
Well I see Boots website just now shows 13 people looking and the number of tests sold has disappeared. As we know it was running at 100+ and now it's gone!
One assumes sales already fallen off a cliff so decided not to report at all.
Hiccup
There are still many countries that insist on pcr test to enter, so still some pcr business out there.
Mhc/Boots do the 2/8 day test too. Regardless of travel, ygen seem to have plenty of work with framework contract. I think one of those big boy outfits in the US changes over to ygen in October. That £25m target should be achieved this year, hopefully we'll past it.
Twix, I thought Clarigene sold via MHC / Boots was for the outbound fit to fly only, not the day 2 / 8 on return? The UK changing inbound rules won’t make any difference to that specifically. Obviously this can all change as governments wave their magic wand!
My previous reply also wasn’t assuming we’ll get the whole £34m, just that if given that much work, I would expect the capacity exists!
Subjectively, It feels like I’m hearing of more and more people with covid and having PCR tests for whole families / contacts ..
Let’s see what autumn brings …
AGM Just over a week away.
Surely long awaited US contract or at least some news is due imminently!
That’s a nice problem to have! Since this was under the framework and carried out properly, we have to assume that we wouldn’t have won the contract had we not been able to demonstrate and commit to the capacity and turnaround times required.
We don’t know for sure how much of that is PCR testing and how much is full sequencing, which is presumably much more expensive!
Looking forward to the update soon!
Seems rather obvious daveand
We don't get the full contract value or nothing but rather individual drawdown of which we were informed we are processing at least one under this contract already, but at the point we reach full capacity we would not and could not accept further business. Obviously.
Ironic after waiting so long for travel to open up. I still feel a buzz hearing this is about to happen and then remember 95% of folk - the double vaccinated- will not need a PCR test at all . ISNT TIMING TYPICAL - HICCUP
Looking at that £34m contract, how on earth will they cope with that? If it was over 12 months or so fair enough, but 3/4/5 months?
With the new Ukas accreditation it opens up quite a bit more work for them to go for too. Especially govt work. I didn't realise how few companies had it. I reckon they got the nod they would get govt work, that's why LR did a 360 with his decision from last year. Hopefully will have paid off already with the first £34m deal. Maybe more importantly, they are now entwined with govt machinations and data bases going forward. They are now very well known to govt and potential big contracts. What's not to like? In meantime nipt, dpyd are selling like hot cakes.
Nice advert and sends out a good message. This company should really grow and I dont think the SP reflects this potential. Personally, I think its only a matter of time, but of course they have to be smart, patient focused and evolve with current technology platforms.
