I did Bruce we spoke on the (G board ?) a few wks ago. I take it your invested here hope its not costing you too much. At least 53 may have been the low so good chance for a revival. Gluck.
Nice to see you after all this time. Did you know my wife Brenda died of her melanoma in Italy in January. Now on my own! I do not believe this is a completely lost cause.
Good post MaureenT. I agree. I must stress im not invested in WPCT....only by association...
Hi Bruce surprised to find you here. I checked in following the EI debacle and the subsequent slide in the sp here. My only interest is my 'blood' thing is in WPCT and without Ws interest and support we'd have been down the knackers yard a long time ago. So, I'm not joining in the 'bash Woodford brigade' yet.
WPCT is an entirely different proposition to the EI fund as you well know. Valuing the unquoted stuff will I'm sure have taken a hit as has his reputation. A sad end to a stellar career if as many predict is the outcome.
Woodford, for all his faults, has at least invested in British biotech startups. We are terrible at financing these yet our universities produce some of best biotechs in the world. Yes, there are a few dogs in his WCPT portfolio but also some stunning, innovative companies, which, unless we here in Britain help, will end up being bought out and shifted off shore. I have a very small batch of these shares, I knew they were risky but they are my 'ethical' portfolio and I am sticking with them.
No evidence whatsoever that Woodfords wife is a holder.
I am always deeply suspicious of someone who has only ever posted in single figures. I do not think your comments sound like a tyro from what you say. Therefore you already have an alter ego which is illegal on this site or you have been elsewhere and arrived here out of the blue which I do not believe. Nasty little comment about lots of fun. There are pensioners who trusted Woodford and to be fair he has had a good record for years. Sadly obsessed with unquoted shares which have come home to roost. Many will come good in time. I think at this stage it is all too incestuous and he should be forced out. Sadly it has been run as a one man band and who would like to pick up a poisoned chalice like this one. I am waiting things out personally but then I was a professional in my time.
At this level it has to be worth a punt with the possibility of Woodford IM being served notice so WPCT is nearly independent.
The risk remains with three of the non execs having direct interests in the holdings (a Woody tactic) and the £150M overdraft facility that maybe drawn to the limit and could be called in?
Lots of risks so going to have fun with a punt.
Mr Cautious - are you a pensioner and invested a huge chunk of your life savings here ?
Funny that someone at Woodfords time of life and wealth would do stuff like this - but then again human nature syas there is never enough money !
Oops devalue upwards not devalue
The clear lesson from Ft's analysis of BenevolenAI is that mark to model valuations are easily manipulated. The entire periodic..2015 outperformance of WEIF generated by a simple trick.
Issue meaningless number..small. of shares to a chum for amounts in excess of last whip round.
All holders devalue to ramped value. Pocket bonus..performance fees etc.
A class action civil suit or better fraud charges would relieve Woody of his horses.
Best guess is that Mrs Woody a la Green holds any assets.
Dampier and HL boys are running for cover and recovery is more likely though them.
It's a fraud but great fun nevertheless. Sheep are born to be shorn. Woody has whole swaths about WIM anti slavery policies on their website.
A great hoot.
If your net worth is a couple of hundred millions and you are 50% down then you are not in any hardship !!
However a pensioner that invested a huge chunk of their life savings in a fund thats 50% down is in a spot of bother !
Yes I dont disagree - placings like this are in the circle of mates and at mates rates - I dont think in any way Woodford should be shown any leniency..Given recent events and failures of so many financial organisations such as London Capital Finance to name one, there seems to be a culture of fraud across the whole financial community.
Man of leisure - the simple answer to that one is that Woodford is on record as saying that his entire personal net worth, apart from his house, is in the funds already.
Just a detail, wouldn't want to spoil your insightful analysis...
It would appear there are significant buyers at this level.
The thing is - at this kind of discount the fund can afford to have some worthless paper (I'd be concerned about IH in particular there) and still be good value.
Peter Elston is usually smart. May be having agonies now, or maybe having second thoughts!
If Woodford really believed the NAV where is his
multi million £ buy order ?
If Woodford really believed the NAV where is his
multi million £ buy order ?
Woodford needs to raise cash as he needs to satisfy
Investors who want to sell out of his locked fund . I read he
Is dumping shares into the Patient Capital fund .. the current 54p
Might look quite good soon . As usual dyor
A number of companies go by the name Cold Fusion or Coldfusion some I believe start ups. Enough of this tinkering with aiding the shorters.
Woodford is also dealing behind closed doors now across his funds and it is difficult to see what is going on. With borrowed funds in WPCT at 16 to 20% what is really going on, the NAV is purely plucked from guess work!
Sone knowledge of physics helps to understand that there is no theoretical basis for low energy nuclear fusion.
Note also that there has been no peer reviewed publication supporting the claim and ALL attempts at reproducing the experiment has failed.
That article was impossible to follow.
Noticed RNS on OCI that Woodford fund sold 12% of OCI the other day. Selling off the few good assets
