mehmehmeh. Now you've gone & done it? Mentioning the c word!
s.i.d.i. Of course as you know I welcome your's & mole's posts on here. I do draw the line with some though, especially now we are going into the ski season! Still, he seems to keep some of you amused?
Had VOD on my watch list for a while now. Bought my first batch @110, will continue to add if it drops further, however, I feel this is bottomed out.
dividend cut looks almost certain imo
Well looks like vodafone shareholders are going to have yet another down day today - dropping rapidly and its only 8.15 .
Well Dan, you're right, I don't hold VOD anymore but still come here to read the posts from time to time and join in when I have something to say. I hope you don't mind. If mole-man doesn't hold VOD can do that. So can I hey?......lol
Yeah sorry NVDA is ticker for US company Nvidia. The computer you are on now probably has an Nvidia chip on the graphics card. I just assume you can read my mind.
Dan you can't expect any stock to just go up, so if you buy into one and it falls, if your conviction is strong enough you won't be bothered. Just take it is an opportunity to buy more for less. If you fret when a stock you own falls, then you either have too much of your portfolio in it, or you are unsure it has a strong future.
Yes I have some that are currently underwater, but they wait their day in the sun. The winners outweight the losers though.
Hi Dan, well we're all here trying to make some money, i don't know which is the best way to do that, just hoping for the best
Lets hope we all get lucky, and fingers crossed for next months results, i can't see this going any lower, so let's hope it goes higher
All the best
Robleo's, missing words. It's jus you I , no problem me think! But as for mole's advice, well I haven't got a clue how to pick these obvious winners, & I guess you are only slightly better than me, so I am sticking to the devil I know (vod),& hoping for the best. As for Bitcoin, I am lucky because I decided not short them, If I had, I could have lost a fortune. I still think they are basically worthless, but the markets disagree. It is of course totally rigged, unlike vod which is only very slightly rigged? ! perhaps? Typical of mole though quoting a nasdaq share without explaining. It sounds like you are doing ok though, better than me, so good luck, & good luck to s.i.d.i. I gather you don't hold vod anymore?
Lol yes, I still got Lloyds but didn't top up when it fell back to the low 40's. Now I am kicking myself for that. Goodnight mate and God bless.
Thanks for that sidi, no good for me then, as i use Hargreaves, hope you held on to your lloyds shares
Take care and best of luck to you
Yes robleo mate, this site is down again as usual. Oh, NVDA is an American company full name Navidia. It is traded on NASDAQ. Latest quote: $245.58. hope this will help. Have a nice evening and good luck my friend.
Does anyone else have problems with lse seems to freeze up all the time, and words go missing, maybe it's just me
Good evening mole, what is nvda, it doesn't come up on the search here ? , vod is less than 5% of my portfolio, so not that bothered about it, but of course I would like to minimise my losses with it , but too big a loss selling at this price IMHO to be honest it seems I'm not very good at picking shares they seem to drop like a stone as soon as I buy them, and take years to recover, Vodafone and Saga were two bad buys for me, but thank goodness I do have some good ones as well, the big favourite of mine is legal and general good dividend payer, one which i topped up on when the prices bottomed out so have an average of 229, as you say don't care if price drops as I will see it as a top up opportunity, one other I'm banking on is lloyds again one I topped up on when prices dropped, to an uncomfortable level for me 25% of portfolio, but with interest rates about to rise there is a possibility of doubling my money there I hope, thank goodness I left 50% of my portfolio in funds and investment trusts, fundsmith and smt being the best, well worth the small charges I think leaving it to the experts, all my funds are in profit , cant say the same about my shares, my most recent purchase was mng bought in at 240 now its dropped to 200, but hopefully it will come back, just don't seem to be very good at picking individual shares, my timing is terrible, how are things going with your investments, and how are the crypto currency's going, I know that's something Dan is interested in, but he's probably to shy to ask, ( only joking of course )
If anyone's got any good investment ideas please let know
best of luck
mole_man. I find your sentence "You'll know you are doing it right when your choice falls, & you don't care" Not sure about that one? Blind faith perhaps? How much are you losing on some of your investments then? You obviously don't care? But good luck anyway.
The crystal ball doesn’t exist. Nothing wrong with a bit of portfolio rebalancing though Robleo if you feel you have too much exposure to VOD. You could keep 1% of your portfolio in it just to reduce the fomo risk from selling all. Redistribute the rest to other sectors and companies.
Last time we discussed this in July you or Dan asked what these exciting alternatives were. I mentioned a look at NVDA, which is 22% up since then. Lucky guess maybe, but I was comfortable with it from looking at the sector and deciding NVDA was the strong one in the bunch.
Look for sectors that you can see doing well next 5 to 10 years then look for the strongest in that bunch. Make a little comparative spreadsheet of financials you think important to help decide. Earnings debt cash etc. Look at the track record too. Last few years have earnings increased decreased or just flat.
The hunt should be fun. You’ll know you are doing it right when your choice falls and you don’t care. You just buy more as you have that conviction in the long run your company will come through on top.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire maybe, but good luck, very difficult decision, a crystal ball would be very useful in this game
Huge bounce in BT today just as VOD hit the £1.13 mark and,.my guess, is that quite a few traders switched from VOD into BT to try and catch the momentum bounce.
BT is massively oversold and I did the switch for a short term BT profit ...
Only time will tell (probably tomorrow) whether the decision to switch was wise or foolish.
