Exactly fixed debt is actually eroded by higher inflation- so real debt reduces as a result
Hello Marcus. Isn't the point here that vod's deb't % rate is already set, so high inflation could be be good? What do others think?
Mystery Mikey. Now I get it. Mikey has been talking down the vod sp for a while now, when all along he was just waiting for the moment to pounce.
BT are also up today (I hold both).
I was reading about stocks to hold for higher interest rates and inflation.
Financial institutions and pension companies were on the list, but in addition so were companies with higher debt, which I thought was bizzare.
So could this just be about the wider market reaction to high inflation
Hello MaryBr. You say sell on moves up. So are you selling today then? Could you give me an answer please, otherwise your posts don't make any sense. Thank you.
Either way up 15% of lows plus a chunky dividend makes it a great share to buy on moves down, hold and sell on moves up.
Must be some news leaked somewhere to justify the momentum. Results 2nd Feb should be interesting.
Stellarresults - strong rise and reduce
Poor - top up again at the lows.
What a star VOD is.
Apparently around the 24th of last month a mystery buyer gagging to buy VOD was seen in the night sky!!
That turned out to be Santa Claus.
There is as much chance of Santa existing as there is a buyer for VOD (inc its massive debt pile)
Buyer beware I expect in terms of licence bans, if applicable.
A distraction from the still main issue. More than one carrier offers 5g and VOD are stuck price matching the lowest. Zero pricing power in an inflationary environment is not desirable.
Puzzled quite why the sp is going opposite to market. Perhaps there is something in the mystery buyer theory.
Does anyone have any views about how the 5G rollout will affect VOD, including the USA issues of worries near airports? I know the issue isn’t over here due to different bandwidth ranges, but just thought I’d see if we have experts in our midst?
The other thing I was thinking is that governments charged a fortune for the sale of 5G bandwidths. If it can’t be used near an airport, even in the USA only, who is liable for the lost business caused by any ‘bans’ on its use near an airport? Legal eagles territory?

All going well today, friday finish should be interesting if this keeps up -))
Although it often hasn't been the case in the past,at the current sp, anybody holding vod since the day before ex divi date on the 25 nov., will be 5p per share in profit including the divi, So not bad. It's always nice to be able to bank the divi, without losing money on the share price. Let's hope this continues in future? Looks like the U.S. was closed today, which prompted me to have a dream?
we saw c.3 + trades of more than 30m volume most days last week. another one for 38m at 4.13pm today 118.62p saved the day..?
Hi compound. Ok I shall re phrase that to, "Most people don't want to be proved wrong about something they want to happen" If I said vod shares will fall, of course I would want to be proven wrong, but I wouldn't say it. I don't think vod shares will end up tomorrow above £1.60. but of course I would love to be proved wrong, but of course I wouldn't make such a daft prediction. Anyway good luck with your predictions which are not too unrealistic?
Oh I don’t know Daniel - I said a few weeks ago I think VOD is too big for a PE takeover bid but I would absolutely be love to be proved wrong on that one and wake up to a RNS saying there has been a bid for 160+ !!
Most people like to be proved right, I don't think I have ever known anybody who likes to be proved wrong? It takes all types I guess? A nice small late recovery, could have been better, but not bad eh? A positive Mikey? Now that would be something? Still, stranger things happen?? I suspect a positive Mikey, is a quiet Mikey. Quiet as a mouse (Mikey).
Are you ok Mikey? Your last post had a hint of positivity to it ….
Nice to be proved wrong again
Red is beckoning
Are we going to finish up in the Blue or is it heading down into the red ?
Well you can never be certain of anything in the markets at the best of times, but after the last 2 years I wouldn’t be surprised if we get if we get a swarm of giant locusts decimating world crops and grounding all air travel or COVID mutates into the rage virus and we all need to start practicing our head shots ! :)
Compound, I've noticed you started to add an escuse at the end of your posts lol, come on your either backing it or your not ? Only joking of course
It was looking good earlier - seems to be drifting back down again .
I concur entirely. Nice summary
SP approaching 120 which is where it very briefly spiked last November and is a key resistance level.
There's always a chance that the SP won't be able to break through this level and could retrace, but at the moment thing seem to be quite positive for value/UK stocks. COVID cases dropping off and restrictions being lifted, UK GDP back to pre pandemic levels already. Growth to value rotation still happening and FTSE approaching pre pandemic levels.
Q3 update in 2 weeks which should be positive, and H1 results in Nov triggered a big rise. I've no doubt the pending update together with the technicals/charts looking very bullish with price being above 100MA and the 20MA/100MA cross that this is going to be on a few traders radars, especially with the gaps to fill at 130 and 140.
Lets hope the world doesn't throw us another curve ball in the next few weeks as it's all looking good IMO.
