Here we go - lets follow the America Markets down shall we
As far as the UK is concerned, VOD would be in a good position to mop up ailing Altnets. Many of the Altnets could struggle, due to their lack of scale; VOD will be in a good position to mop these up, and integrate them into the ex C&WW Network they now own.
Vod could also do a deal with Three in Ireland but there’s no obvious synergies with Hutch’s other European operations. Apart from EU regulators being slower due to the more complicated consultations, they are still publicly promoting four networks per country. Vod investors need some patience, still. :)
'Anything EU moves slow'
True. UK regulation tends to move faster than mainland europe, probably because of coordination, for example , France already at 3 operators and whats in it for them? 3UK has sister company 3 Italy, so maybe such a deal could move faster. Hutch also has lots of other interests across EU/UK so everyone must be positioning for deals in their own interests
With the exception of the UK perhaps where some form of deal could be concluded with Three reasonably quickly, don’t expect any rationalisation in Europe that would enhance the bottom line for at least eighteen months. Anything EU moves slow.
'Maybe VOD wants to avoid a big restructuring charge at year end'
Maybe.
VOD already rejected an Operating company sale (Italy) and prospect of one off large disposal proceed (pay down some debt etc). Instead, chosen consolidation and historic (accounting) cost write down. The former would clear down some debt and allow some investment while the latter extends distributable (free) cashflow over more years. But Vestager may force choosing between investment and dividend distribution.
Presumably VOD has taken advice on the preferred option and I assume consolidation leads to a higher Market Value?
That is a great video, the dogs bo**oc** even.

Interesting article Android. Vestager will have to decide if VOD is a dumb pipe for the internet and the likes of Google and Meta (Facebook). What are the future benefits of consolidation apart form cost cutting. Still a big gap between market value and net assets. Maybe VOD wants to avoid a big restructuring charge at year end. AIMO DYOR
1st you filter someone, then you insult them, Very clever?! Perhaps he is not that stupid after all?? Have a good week end everybody.
Vestager says, 'So far our experience still holds true that it is competition that pushes for investment rather than consolidation'. And Nick arguing he cant get a fair return on investment because the markets are saturated. Must reach a tipping point very soon and an activist investor hot on Nicks heels!

Thanks robleo, & sorry to labour on the point you made "makes you realise how lucky we are in the U.K." but that is exactly why I don't like whingers, who clearly don't know how lucky they are? No peaking now? He loves to un filter those green filtered posts? Have a good weekend.
1.39 for me then, have a good weekend guys
Hi Dan, I thought you would appreciate the humour ? hope you and Mikey make up again, yea my heart goes out to those poor people in Ukraine, but unfortunately theirs nothing we can do to stop it, makes you realise how lucky we are in the uk
good day today, let's hope next week is better for all
I'll take that win, as I nailed it to .05p. I am an investing god, till Monday.
Now my problem is I was also going to guess £1.38 for next Friday. We can't all have the same price. £1.37 for me.
Hello robleo. Well only you could get away with that comment? But thanks anyway, & well done mole. Obviously the markets like the non military approach from N.A.T.O. whether right or wrong? my point was, & still is, this is not the right forum for armchair military politics , & whinging about yesterdays fall in the vod sp was an insult to the brave Ukrainians. But next week I predict, £1.38. By the way, you know that he only pretends to filter me don't you?
Guess for this week 138 - and all i get now is a load of green filtered messages - much better than reading his pathetic posts ??
Prediction Guesses for 25/02/22
good evening everyone
well mole-man is the winner of this weeks guessing game, so congratulations Mole
a bit of a downer this week, but only to be expected with all that's been going on, but don't complain about or nasty Dan will tell you off lol, oh but you wouldn't know about it as you've all filtered him? only joking Daniel ;-)

Looking really good today so far.
Ftse coking back nicely at the moment - vodafone on the other hand has begun its ski slope already
So a bit of a rise on the nasdaq, 1 32 tomorrow perhaps? Think positive?
Hi robleo. Has the world gone mad? well I was beginning to think so until your words of reason came on here!? Why is it that women buy premium bonds? (safe). If we do have a 3rd world war, then of course they will blame it all on us men, & they may be right? But I guess women would let him get away with it!? At the end of the day, world peace is very complex, so I would suggest armchair political warfare is not helpful? All I ask for is please stop all this whinging, moaning, moronic nonsense? What will be, will be.
Read all the post Narcus old chap. USA Trading account still up on the day. I don't need you to buy. Just a note that closed pre-market overreaction was replaced by buying pressure on open.
The world will figure this out and Putin will realise his error.
So Mikey, (who doesn't care about shares??) If you don't care about shares at the moment, then why do you keep boring us all with your whinging posts? " I have finally gone on to filter"? (So is that your idea of free speech?) How many times is that now? You should just filter yourself, & do us all a favour. If you do reply, then you are a bigger liar than Putin.
The World has gone mad guys, I should have listened to my wife and bought premium bonds?, just hope all the west will do every possible to stop this dictator, he cannot be allowed to get away with this, or where next
