HI Soton, your welcome if it's a bit of fun then very glad to do it, i just thought i would give you guys an option to stop the prediction game for a while, if you were all bored with it, but it looks like quite a few want to continue, so it's back on again
i sold aviva from my sipp before exdiv, as i wasn't happy with the consolidation bit, but retained it in my isa, bought back again recently at 387 for my sipp, so expecting an 8.5 div next year and a good possibility of some nice growth
not sure you will ever convince Dan about the vod management ? but he might be able to convince me if my capital is returned, think everyone will just have to form their own opinion on that one
forgot to post this

Hi all....Well done csdi on winning this week getting a bit of a habit with you.....Winning that is...so this week gonna be interesting so i'll go for 134....cheers Rob keep up the good work
Has an after thought.....Sorry Dan but maybe Mikey is right what has Read done since he took over apart from taking a huge salary funded by us shareholders? If you look at what Blanc has done at Aviva since she took over is nothing short of astonishing......
I’ll have a go if that’s ok? I’ll go for £1.345
I’m thinking there will be a relief rally in the markets this week because of the grain deal, although all eyes on the AGM on Tuesday with this one.
First time in 131.20 for Friday finish
Dan csdi, may have to change his name if he carry's on like this, even his psn shares are going up, think Ronald is sunning himself on a Greek island
prediction game, i was going to cancel it for a while or maybe do it once a month or something, as we have been doing it for a while, i was thinking everyone maybe getting a bit bored with it, but i will leave you guys decide, i don't mind either way
was hoping we might have finished a bit higher today, but never mind, nothing exciting happening with any shares at the moment, we just need to get past that 130 for now
cheers all
C.S.D.I. won, Ronald cheated, the same as me, with his late entry.. Come on, C.S.D.I. doesn't win very often, so don't cheat him out of his one moment of glory. Come on Rob, play fair? Thanks for your (although late)! Great effort. Try to be on time next week though??! Joking of course.
It looks like C.S.D.I. has won!?? Must be mistake, I demand a recount. Come on, It is about time me or robleo , (The rulers of this forum after all!!?) won?
Congratulations Guys/Gals
Yes of course Dan, I'm not saying nick reed is doing a bad job, but also i don't have any reason to think he is doing a good job either, remember there is a possibility of 11 percent inflation ahead of us, so we will need the sp to rise for obvious reasons, but let's see what happens in the coming months and fingers crossed it will go in our favour
robleo. Of course there is a possibility that that the management have not been doing a very good job? Possible yes, definite no. We don't know, because are not experts at managing a complex company like vodafone, so why do we make that assumption. Guilty until proved innocent perhaps?? As I have said, there are many other factors involved, so to just do a knee jerk, sack Nick Read is not very helpful, as I am sure you realise?
"Now 8 years later I have a sizeable holding and my breakeven price is £ 140.00"
I know you mean £1.40, £140 per share would give me Vodafone holding of around £11.2 Million, if only lol.
Hi robleo. You say" Mikey sometimes gets shot down for his views, but who knows, he could just be right". I have been trying for years to make some sense of Mikey's views, but all I get is bloody yanks, sack Nick Read, Ski slope moguls, nasty Putin, moan, moan, moan, Etc, Etc. As for mole, of course he may be right, but he explains his reasons, Mikey never has. & probably never will??
Dan, there is of course a possibility that the management have not been doing a very good job, you should also consider that possibility, there is high competition in all types of business, and the the success of any business is quite often down to good or bad management, it's not all black and white we know that, I expect you read that article Mikey posted the other day, but totally dismissed it?, there is a chance that their is some truth in it ? a return of my capital of course could completely change my opinion
Hello OakLodge. Interesting post from you I think. I have been a vod shareholder for over 20years & also bought some at £2.20 & various other prices, but my average excluding divi's is more than yours. Are you including divi's in your average? But back to the point you made recently about unpredictable events effecting the sp, more than bad management, there have been many events that have effected the vod sp, including massive competition from other players, massive increases in licence fees, etc, etc, which were difficult to predict, which (correct me if I am wrong) was your original point? Those who just bang on about bad management, are completely missing the point I feel. If 10 to 20 years ago you could see into the future, (now) seeing everybody plugged in to there mobs all time, your would have bought into vod big time, but we did not realise how tight profit margins would become in this game. There is no point blaming Nick Read all the time, except as a scape goat. He can't control the vod sp, that is down to the market, he can't control unpredictable events & of course fleccy may be right when he says vod is way under undervalued anyway? I wish I had his confidence, but only time will tell?
Oaklodge I have an average of around 1.90, have not averaged down on this one at all, I truly want to believe some of the more optimistic posters on here, but also like to hear alternative views, such as that from mole-man, after 5 years of waiting for a return of my capital, well i will just stay as a neutral on this one for now, Mikey sometimes get's shot down for his views, but who knows, he could just be right
This weeks winners, i think if i have worked it out right is CSDI and Ronold, well done guys, you both finished off on a high on our last one, congratulations both
Robina: "Looks to me like 130p is a barrier for this telco behemoth. If 130 gets passed then it heads back down quickly."
Yes, slowly climbing and falling back quickly is what this share is very good at. I have had a long, tortuous relationship with VOD. I went in heavily some 8 years ago when the share price was at around 2.20 believing (and being told by 'experts' that 5G would transform the mobile industry and providers would greatly benefit. Then the price started drifting down. Because I kept believing that 5G would sooner or later come to the rescue I did the 'trying to catch the falling knife' thing and kept averaging down. Now 8 years later I have a sizeable holding and my breakeven price is £ 140.00, getting better but still a way to go. Trouble is I'm in my 80ties and long waits could be my undoing.
AGM on Tuesday - it will be interesting to see how Read explains away another year of doing nothing - and another year with no increase in value to the shareholders - despite him saying thats his big objective - no doubt it will be the same this time next year unless the board realise a change is needed .
Afternoon guys. Shame this doesn’t want to stay over £1.30 for me as I’m looking to take some profit a little higher up. Can’t argue with the yield though. Maybe this proposed grain deal between Ukraine and Russia will help with inflation a bit? GLA
"As long as it doesn't head back into the 110-120p range we are ok given the dividend. Treat VOD like a bond I suppose."
110-120p would be better, in view of the share buybacks to cover MCB's. The price will eventually find the right level, in my opinion. in the meantime I'm in no rush to see a capital return on my investment.
Looks to me like 130p is a barrier for this telco behemoth. If 130 gets passed then it heads back down quickly. As long as it doesn't head back into the 110-120p range we are ok given the dividend. Treat VOD like a bond I suppose.
So £2 is possible then ?, all we need is a miracle and some events, only good events, only joking oaklodge :-) Dan you sarcastic-never lol
OakLodge. Thank you for your comments about me, via Mikey, in response to my comments about you, via Mikey. (Mikey the go between eh)! You may have gathered by now, I have a sarcastic sense of humour, so no offense was meant. If I put L.O.L. after everything I say, I might get away it, but I cant stand the saying L.O.L., Cheers. Not a bad finish today.
Thank you Mikey. But in fairness I also read a lot of common sense and positivity from Dan. Let's all try to get along and wait patiently for Vodafone to give us some returns in the end. Miracles do sometimes happen. Cheers!
Mikey. I didn't say only positive comments are allowed on this board, & never have, as you well know.. I was agreeing with Oaklodge when he implied that a bad share performance is often just down to the unforeseen, which I think is obvious, as opposed to management, (Nick Read for example), or other reasons. Mikey, calm down. I wasn't talking to you.
